   No longer a restaurant, just a very good bar with bar food. The whiskeys are amazing.

   While dropping our daughter off at CUA, and being big bourbon/whiskey fans, we decided to come into DC with our daughter and another couple and their daughter for dinner. We were eagerly greeted by Willie, who was working there a full two days. We were told they were revamping the kitchen staff and menu and had a limited selection of foods. Having traveled in from CUA and being on a tight schedule, we decided to stay. The selection of bourbon, scotch, rye was highly selective and their cocktail creations were exceptional. Simple enough, but the large ice cube when ordering on the rocks makes a drink so much more palatable than a bunch of small ice cubes. First off, their chicken wings are AMAZING. lemon pepper, Old Bay and whisky were the three preparations and each was better than the next. Malcom (the manager) was amazingly accommodating with the food choices and the whisky burgers were very good. Honey mustard was made from scratch just for us. The Jazz band was excellent and provided great entertainment for us on our last night with our daughters in DC. What could have turned out to be a debacle of an evening turned out to become a great story for years to come. I'm so happy we came and wish this great place a lot of luck and nothing but success.

   Penny Whisky, is the unique conceptualization of an upscale lounge showcasing & crafting unlimited whiskey cocktails while offering a sundry of food. On to the eatable portion of the tasting, where the Executive Chef Eric 'E' Marshall unveiled his artistic culinary skills. His imaginativeness for his menu absolutely garnered rave compliments. His interaction with the guests in between cooking was an added benefit in hearing his vision on preparing piquant edibles. Additionally, his expedient effort in modifying some of his offerings to accommodate special requests complimented his culinarius & people skills. Before heading upstairs to the whiskey haven, you will enter inside the historic building that houses the Chinatown Garden Chinese restaurant. After an immediate right through the doors , you'll walk up the imposing black & red accent stairs setting the luxuriously & illusory ambience. The lone red leather chair with an accompanying side table at the top of the stairs offers a quaint spot to utilize momentarily. This sophisticated lounge is perfectly nestled in the notable placement of Chinatown's H & 7th Street. No need to drive, worrying about parking & such, as via on the Metro Rail-Red & Green Lines; Galllery-Chinatown, you will arrive at Penny Whisky a few minutes after exiting the station. Take the H Street exit, once up the escalators make a right & in a few hundred feet you have arrived. Penny Whisky's will rapidly become the popular destination known for offering their innovative cocktail menu, a chic urban social scene, a never-ending cascade of whiskey & savory dining options...all under one roof in delivering a warm & upscale ambience.
