About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Kid-friendly
  • Fancy
Passero is a trattoria-inspired American restaurant located in downtown Arlington Heights. It is the collaboration of Italian-American heritage over many generations and the culinary interpretations of Chef Matt Peota. By sourcing ingredients from the surrounding areas the dishes also reflect the seasonality of the Midwest.

Passero translates to “sparrow” in Italian, and like the sparrow this neighborhood eatery symbolizes joy, creativity and hard work. Passero serves as a reminder that busy hands and minds promote a happy and full life.

Food is good, menu is limited. Service is good, but unnecessarily loud music. Note: They turned it down when we asked. Portions are enormous.

Food was excellent as was the service. A little too pricey for my liking so won’t be but a couple times a year type of visit but with that said, very good place to go

My guest and I were very disappointed in the service and management. Bad experience for a Saturday lunch when my guest ordered a salad without cheese (dairy allergy) and it was brought with cheese. When the busboy (not waiter/bartender assigned to our table) dropped it off, we immediately told him that it was ordered WITHOUT cheese so he took it back toward the kitchen area but clearly only scraped the cheese off the top and returned with the same salad, which we found more chunks of cheese lower in the salad and did not trust that they would make it over again. When the waiter/bartender finally (after a good 10 min.) decided to check on us, we explained the mishap and he said he would have them make a new one. That took another 10-15 min. as he chose to spend his time talking to the one customer sitting at the bar rather than paying attention to dining customers. At this point, we were so aggravated and lost our appetites. I asked the hostess to get the Manager and not only did she question me, but she told our waiter/bartender and he then came to our table with a bad demeanor and said that HE would tell the manager about the salad being made wrong. I then insisted that the Manager stop over and he reluctantly went into the back to look for her. That took another 10 min. and she then approached and said that she was aware of the issue and would "comp" our lunch. We told her we were not there for a free lunch - only to have a nice meal together while visiting and celebrating a birthday and it turned into a miserable experience. She never once apologized and actually seemed rude. I cannot recommend Passero - try any other of the great restaurants in downtown Arlington Heights!

I read great reviews so I was a little disappointed with our experience. We had a reservation for dining on the patio due to COVID. The table was unfortunately setup on a very uneven part which made it uncomfortable. Had to sit in a folding chair which was also not great and I would overlook that if everything else was spot on. I was most unhappy with our server who just about every time he approached our table he had an armful of dirty dishes that he was carrying. I would rather have a server take care of the bussing of tables and then give us the attention we deserve rather than stopping by on his way to dispose of dirty dishes, etc.. Also made it clear that there probably wasn’t a whole lot of hand washing going on by him. In a pandemic that is a turn off and potentially dangerous. I hope this is helpful

Food and service were outstanding. Ambiance of outdoor downing not the greatest but they are adapting the best they can with the pandemic.

Haven't had a chance to eat at Passero's new location until now. Can't say enough about the food! Ricotta/honey app was amazing. Lobster risotto was another win. The gnocchi melted in my mouth. Cheesy garlic bread was very garlicky and piping hot from oven. Guitarist on Friday night gave a nice ambiance and server Ross was great! Can't wait to work my way through more of the menu soon
