About this restaurant

  • Innovative
  • Charming
  • Great for creative cocktails
We invite our community to participate in a time-honored tradition. Experience food as a daily pursuit, a connection to ingredients as they were meant to be.

Pa’La is food with a sense of history, cooking in a way that is inherently approachable and human.

The kitchen at Pa’La centers around a hand-built wood-burning oven and a Japanese Robata grill. In our cooking we use fire, smoke, coals, and embers to create dishes that reflect the seafood, grains, and vegetable-driven coastal cultures of the Mediterranean, Japan and South America. We are committed to strong relationships with a few select organic farmers and artisans practicing responsible agriculture and production.

Because we source ingredients at their peak, our menu is continually changing. Each day we cook dishes determined by the best materials available.

There were 2 of us and we opted for the 4 course prix fixe with wine. The 4 courses were - Charred pork in lettuce wrap, Beef tartare, Roasted Branzino and Argentinian Steak . The dessert option is a little difficult for me to describe since I normally don't eat desserts but it was very tasty. Everything was delicious (my companion commented that the last time she tasted Branzino this well executed was in Rome, Italy so high praise indeed) and we decided that we would definitely be back for the 8 course offerings on Tuesdays! The "weakest link" was perhaps the Beef tartare which was a bit "mushy" and lacked definition. Typically this dish is served with chopped onions, capers et al with a quail's egg allowing a diner to "tailor" the taste to individual preferences. I personally prefer this "deconstructed" approach. Our server was very accomodative and was more than willing to switch out the wines accompanying the aforementioned courses. We will DEFINITELY be back!!!

Perfect spot for tapas style dining. Tartare, duck, shrimp, and the potatoes are must-have. FYI the 24th St location is beer+wine only

We arrived for a 6:30 reservation, waited one hour and in that entire time we were only offered water. We never got our drinks or food that we ordered. Left due to poor/non existent service.

The atmosphere is lovely and the fire at the front is very inviting. All of the food smelled great. It was a coursed set Jamaican dinner so I could not partake of the fish and seafood courses, I can only report the aromas were inviting. The cucumber salad was a great starter. The next course for me was to be butternut squash; the server stole half of my dish and gave it to someone else. It smelled lovely and the flavor was pretty good but mine was underdone and the fish was over salted. The beef course was very flavorful but my meat was very well done; the meat was dry but the curry sauce was fantastic (I just wish it had not been snatched away before I was done with it.) The jerk pork was fabulously flavored but not properly trimmed as I got a large inedible piece. The grapefruit rim cake was surprising; a bit bitter and a bit sweet. Overall; flavors are great but technique needs work. Servers need to stop removing food without asking. I also found the tiny plates difficult and do not like reusing the same utensils for different courses.

Loved it! We had the four course tasting menu with wine pairing. They were short staffed, but still did a great job with service.

An amazing place with great food. Stumbled across it looking for a place to eat near Wren House Brewing project. Both gems in unassuming facades.
