Named after Chef Francisco’s mother, Ophelia will specialize in authentic Mexican cuisine prepared with a refined, elevated approach.

“Given my strong connection to Mexican cuisine, we saw an opportunity to take advantage of my knowledge and passion and do something truly unique here in Olympic Village,” Higareda explains. “My mother inspired my love of cooking and it will be a true honour to return to my roots and pay homage to her and my country at Ophelia this spring.”

Ophelia will also offer a fully licenced bar serving handcrafted cocktails made with premium tequilas and mezcals, along with local and imported craft beers, and New- and Old-World wines.

Continuing with the Regions of Mexico series, now is the turn for Puebla. Puebla's cuisine is the result of a fusion of Mexican culinary traditions—predating the colonial period—and the influences of European cuisines such as Spanish and French, or those from other latitudes such as Arabic. Each cuisine contributed not only ingredients—such as chili, tomato, onion, and oil—but also utensils and processes that enriched the state's culinary offerings, making it a rich and varied cuisine, considered one of the most baroque and representative of Mexico. Puebla's geographical location was undoubtedly the reason for shaping and defining the most characteristic features of Puebla's cuisine. Another characteristic of Puebla's cuisine is its wide and varied offering of typical breads and sweets, which, combined with dishes considered the flagship of Mexican gastronomy—such as Chiles en Nogada—make this one of the most important cuisines in the country and a national heritage. Puebla's cuisine is one of the most complex, rich, and nutritious in the world. Consequently, it is seeking recognition as a cultural heritage of humanity

We most always book a reservation at this restaurant before going to a concert at Roger’s or BC Place. We walk to the concert from this restaurant to avoid the congestion when the concert is over. The food is excellent and beautifully presented. The service was top-notch - nothing negative to say about the dining experience. We’ve been a few times now and enjoyed it every single time.

I think Mexican needs more flavour....we had the tuna tostada which was weak overall with infused Mexican flavours. The fish tacos were excellent. The enchiladas did not carry thru significant flavour. Average at best. For $130 we expected more!

I've been to Ophelia quite a few times. The quality of the food and the service is always enjoyable everytime. Thank you for the surprise birthday cake at the end.

Our waitress was very warm, friendly and provided great service. The food was delicious and the restaurant is gorgeous.

I had the tacos de arracherra y bone marrow and it was one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten. Nothing unnecessary in the dish, every flavour complimented the next. The service was wonderful and the cocktails were top notch. Will certainly be back.
