   Food was good but not outstanding, service ok, surroundings nice, there is a terrace for smokers/outside, a little pricey if you're not on an offer.

   The reviews for this restaurant were good - so I booked it for a pre theatre meal for 7 people. Even though we arrived at 5.30pm, and advised the restaurant we had to leave at 7pm, we only just had time for a starter and main course. The service was extremely slow, and I had to chase the waiters for both courses. We even had to ask for our second bottle of wine to be opened, as no one was paying attention to whether our glasses needed topping up or not. Avoid at all costs unless you are very happy to have a slow meal with inefficient service.

   Booked because of the 2 course for £15 deal which is excellent quality and value. Be aware that you cannot get a bottle of wine under £30! But if you choose sensibly it is still quite a good deal. Service is quite pretentious -we had our dessert interrupted 3 times by 3 different members of staff asking us if we wanted tea/coffee. I felt they wanted to hurry us out of there. I also felt that the £15 set meal people (which most of us were on a Saturday lunchtime) were slightly looked down on. Not sure why they make a thing of calling the restaurant after the old Scotland Yard number which was never known as one twenty one two. It was always known as Whitehall 1212; if the restaurant had been so named, people would recognise it immediately.

   Had lovely food-one veg option but both my friends enjoyed it thoroughly. Must say the portions are tiny!!!

   We had the set menu at 1212 - 2 courses for £15. The surroundings were elegant, as was the food. The portions were not large, but then we were after a light lunch. The wine list prices are in line with the a la carte menu prices - we had three glasses of a tasty riesling at £8 each. An enjoyable lunch with excellent service.

   The food was quite nice, staff were friendly but we have to wait quite a long time for each course. We waited for about 30 minutes for the main course...

   I booked 1212 as a pre theatre meal as part of my husband's birthday treat. We both enjoyed the experience.The food was delicious although small portions, which would not have been good value if not for the Top Table offer. The decor and service was lovely with the additional pleasure of an early evening drink in the garden and the after dinner chocolates were a superb treat.

   Friend and I went for a pre-theatre menu, as it was such a great value, and were not disappointed. Food was excellent, service attentive, place itself is beautiful and quiet, with only couple more tables taken, but it was perfect, as we wanted to talk, not to shout over the din of busy restaurant. Very elegant and prime location.

   A local oasis of calm after a frenetic four hours at the Beach Volley Ball arena, booked as a Top Table recommendation in the interval between games 2 and 3. Exceptional value for the Top Table lunch menu. Might return another time to sample the full price a la carte options.

    Had the 2 course set lunch menu with a girlfriend during the work week. Great place, quite a formal dining experience but lovely, good quality food at an affordable price (I can only speak of the set lunch menu and not the a la carte menu). Service was lovely too, very attentive and friendly. The location is a little out of the way from the shops, but if you're ever in the area this is a great place to bear in mind.
