Oma's Hideaway is a vibrant, maximalist restaurant inspired by the life and spirit of Chef Thomas Pisha Duffly's grandmother, Kiong Tien “Tina” Vandenberg. Her ability to adapt, to make the most out of limited resources, and to stay creative while projecting warmth and brightness is the guiding force behind Oma’s Hideaway.

Born during the pandemic as a pop-up in the Gado Gado parking lot, Oma’s became a permanent beacon of iridescent light in Portland’s Richmond neighborhood in 2021. The menu draws from Tina’s life story, taking influence from the craveable, soul-satisfying hawker food of Singapore and Malaysia and “turning up the volume” with exaggerated yet balanced flavors in Chef Tom’s signature style. Oma’s serves dinner accompanied by a seasonal list of hand-crafted cocktails and zero-proof drinks.

For one night only, Oma's is turning up the heat with a chili-focused dinner sure to light up your taste buds. We've got a menu full of dishes that put the humble chili front and center. It'll be HOT for sure, but also vegetal, floral, numbing, and all the other beautiful flavors and sensations that chilis can bring. We'll be serving up two savory courses for sharing featuring loh bak, eggplant richa richa, roti canai, chili pan mee, lamb rendang, grilled halibut collar, and more. Plus some new curries and sambals to add even more heat if you dare! Don't worry, we'll throw in a cooling dessert to bring you back down at the end of the night.

This is one of the greatest restaurants in Portland and a favorite for any event or a fun date night out! The service is only rivaled by the extraordinary caliber of the food—which is always so unique and packed with flavor! 10/10! Can never recommend enough!

The food is so freaking good. The cocktails and mocktails were great. And it’s just fun to be at Oma’s. We were sat on the back deck this time which was a bit loud at times and broke the reverie. Other than that, another wonderful evening at Oma’s.

Basically had to order everything on the menu (as usual) because everything sounded so good. Highlights are the roti, curry and wontons. The back "outside" patio was lovely. Different vibe than inside, but still very fun. Cocktails aren't to be missed! BTW- if you miss the artwork at THB, check over the bar at Oma's!!!

Such a special spot for dinner. We loved every dish - the roti canai, caramelized Brussel sprouts, grilled Chinese broccoli, raita salad, and salted egg yolk curry fries. The drinks we ordered were also delicious - the “that’s Mai Thai” and the zero proof “I am Serious.” The people who work there are all wonderful and provide a lovely environment. Highly recommend!!

Went on a date with my wife here, and it was the perfect cozy neighborhood spot to wind up at. The food was spicy but well balanced and the cocktails are next level. I've been exploring Portland more and really happy I found this place.
