IN 1983, Karl & Ursula Selinger of Neustadt an der Weinstrasse, Germany in the Rhineland Pfalz opened The Old Stein Inn to serve the finest German cuisine. They decided to locate in Anne Arundel County just 8 miles south of Annapolis in Edgewater Maryland. The Old Stein has a traditional Biergarten to give neighbors a place to enjoy al fresco dining with friends and family. The ten German taps pour an unparalleled selection of beer. The Old Stein has been featured on "The Best Of Show" on the Food Network and has won multiple awards for the Munster Cheese & Crab Soup and the Apple Cheesecake.
The Old Stein is no run-of-the-mill chain restaurant. Diners come from all over the Mid-Atlantic (or right around the corner) to this family-owned, Maryland gem to enjoy fun, food, friends—and, or course, a cold brew in a gemütlichkeit atmosphere. Eins, Zwei, Drei, G"suffa!

My son invited my wife and I to my grandsons graduation dinner. We sat outside and the weather was perfect. We luckily got a first class very concerned waiter. He was a tall red-headed fellow that complimented the special meal. The food was outstanding and perfectly cooked. The music was an added joy. I felt royal being at the Old Stein Inn

Beer was good. Service was not. I think we annoyed him in some way as the other tables that were filled after us got better service.

It is always great food and atmosphere, I mentioned birthday in my reservation and to our waiter but nothing happened. Maybe they don’t sing or offer dessert? - even just a happy birthday would have been a nice touch

Used Open Table to book reservation and requested a small dessert or something since it was our 16th anniversary. Nein. Asked to be seated in the Biergarten -- big mistake. Seated next to 8 big, hard-drinking guys dressed in lederhosen. This should've been my first clue to ask for a different table. Loud, obnoxious and after they broke a few of the big glass mugs, they finally left. Another thing with the servers that I absolutely abhor: They brought the main course about halfway through our soup. Despise when that happens. Ain't sending it back because we know what'll happen... gesundheit. Tab was outrageous for what we got; $8 per pint of beer for example. Thankfully the food was pretty good and we'll probably go back since it's really the only decent German restaurant within a reasonable drive for us. All what you make of it I guess...

Worth the drive from DC. I brought my friends all the way from Frederick, MD to dinner here because it's that yummy. During the summer I come here once a month but mostly for the polka band...their not only good but funny. (Note- I'm under 35 the entertainment is awesome and the beer selection is on point)

Consistently great service and food. A real gem near Annapolis MD. We come here for all out of town guests and regularly come here for work functions and for special occasions.

Good we not very good. Sides were cold. Seemed as though food was scraping the bottom of the pot of what we left. Very disappointed.
