   Old Range Steakhouse is a Tahoe institution. Consistently excellent steaks, good wine selection, tasty cocktails. This place is old school Tahoe. I've been dining here forever. I think when a restaurant survives year-after-year that speaks volumes to its quality and overall customer service. I've always had a happy experience here.

   We made a day trip to Tahoe while visiting Reno for Softball. We waited at the beach over an hour after we were done with our activities just to eat at this restaurant on the lake. We did not have a reservation so they stuck us in a booth in a dark corner where we had NO view of the lake. I asked if we could move to another table but they were for " reservations" 2 of the table sat empty the entire time we were there and were still empty when we left. Another table had finished and left before us that also had a lake view. I think this is HORRIBLE customer service. Being in the industry for over 25 years you could even say to the guest. If I let you sit there you have to be gone in an hour because we have a 6:00 reservation? Something to accommodate all. It was SO frustrating... not to mention two other booths got sat maybe 5 minutes before we left.... HORRIBLE way to run your very small restaurant. Also the server never mentioned the "early bird special" even though 3 of us ordered entree's off that menu... again poor customer service.
