   The restaurant, which is the less expensive sister to Jean George, is less formal, and ...less. With an $80 bottle of wine, which was among the least expensive, we spent $325, including tax and tip. Don't expect to get away for much less if you're having a full dinner. The artichoke was good, contrary to some reviews. The squash soup was creamy but had a slight pasty taste and feel. The mushrooms were a nice addition, but didn't really add much. My wife had the lobster, which was out of the shell, and the pieces had a crunchy coating, but was slightly dry and overcooked. The claw had the tendon removed, which was a nice touch. I had the veal milanese. It was a nice portion, the veal had a puffy fried coating, which was unusual, but didn't really add much. The veal was very tender, but a bit bland, and because it was on the thin side, it had less chew than some versions. The dessert we had was chocolate in a small shell with nuts. Nice, but nothing to write home about. Service was excellent. I guess for NYC, that's what it good, but not great, meal costs.

   Wonderful tastes. Creative and elegant cuisine. Generous portions. Impeccable service. Beautiful space. Superb dining experience all around. Thank you Nougatine for being consistently fantastic.

   Birthday. No candles or recognition. Staff polite until we stayed too long. One coffee had to be sent back.

   The experience at Nougatine has always been outstanding in previous visits and one my favorite places in NYC. Surprised to see the indifference this time whether it was while seating us late though we had a reservation or no one offering the food menu till we asked for. And the receptionist was outright elitist and rude.

   I would definitely recommend Nougatine for a special occasion as the prices are still high. We had a table in the front looking out at Central Park which was perfect but most of the tables do not have that view. Sitting outdoors in the spring/summer would be very special.
