Since the opening of their acclaimed Restaurant Nicholas in 2000, Chef Nicholas Harary and his wife, Melissa, modernized the concept of fine dining. Nice relaxing environment. Nicholas Barrel & Roost is simply the place I go when I want to take good friends out for a nice brunch. The service is consistently good, the food is always tasty.

Service and food choices were top notch. Servers friendly and well trained. Food flavors and portions were very good. Hard surfaces in decore and open areas made high din level made conversation challenging at times. Truly enjoyed this gem.

Decided to replicate a meal I ate throughout Paris many nights: French Onion Soup and Mussels. The soup's broth was outstanding, cheese was as it was supposed to be. Not enough broad or croutons (or onions for that matter) but all in all it was delicious. Best FO soup that I've found in central NJ. Mussels were not terribly meaty but fresh and broth was tasty. Swordfish dish was devoured by my wife. She loved it!! Drinks were quickly brought to the table (unlike mostly every restaurant in NJ since we moved here three years ago where drinks take forever to be brought), and the service and the waiter, Joseph, were top notch. Great place, parking lot makes it easy, and we cannot wait to go back.

This is my favorite restaurant and our go-to whenever we are in the area to catch a show or concert at The Count Basie or The Vogel in Red Bank. The vibe is sophisticated but casual. The food is always perfect. Our favorites are the fresh oysters, the burger, the bolognese, the short rib, etc. The list goes on and on. Friendly service and a beautiful setting add to the experience. Highly recommend!
