This restaurant has been in the area for many, many years and is well established. This was our first visit and we had no preconceptions or reviews from friends or family to go on. We were there at a very early dinner hour so the restaurant was fairly empty. The ambiance was enhanced by The Carpenters playing softly in the background (and really, who doesn’t love The Carpenters!), We were seated by the window and the wait staff was very attentive. Our waiter was friendly and efficiently ran through the specials of the day. The garlic bread was very good but had an overpowering taste of sage. The lasagna with meatballs was good but the meatballs were a bit dense and dry. Again it was obvious the chef favored sage as everything was over seasoned with it. My wife had the fettuccine with shrimp and scallops. She felt the Alfredo sauce was bland and lacked seasoning. We ordered dessert and again we were disappointed in the quality. My wife had the cheesecake which was foamy and flavorless. It came with a “caramel” sauce that was neither caramel or dulce de leche. It was watery and thin and had the strangest taste. I had the tiramisu which tasted as though it was made for the week.It was soggy and there was a pool of water left when you took a bite. I believe this is the first time I didn’t finish a dessert! All in all the food was passable but not outstanding. The service was excellent, but sadly this will probably be our only visit to Napoli Italian Restaurant.
