About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
  • Neighborhood gem
The Bistro at Muriel’s Jackson Square offers contemporary Creole cuisine with New Orleans classics like Seafood Gumbo, Turtle soup, Shrimp & Grits and Wood Grilled Pork Chop while the Courtyard Bar is the perfect place to drop by for drinks and appetizers. The Séance Lounge is the place for a relaxed, comfortable meeting before or after dining. Comprised of two areas, The Outer Seance and The Inner Séance, the Séance also tells the story of a mystic checkered past. The Outer Séance addresses the New Orleans era of Storyville when Muriel's Jackson Square was one of the French Quarter's top bordellos! The Inner Séance is the preferred domain of the resident ghost, Pierre Antoine Lepardi Jourdan; it's the perfect spot for an intimate conversation or a drink among its plush surroundings. The 170 foot wrap-around balcony is a splendid spot for enjoying our specialty cocktails or our extensive wine list featuring over 300 selections from around the world.

Food was just ok and definitely not work the price. It was super loud in there. I was dining alone and treated like a 2nd class citizen due to this. I dine out a lot solo as I’m out of town for work. Some restaurants treat you kindly and some will give you the worst possible table and snub you. This place is the bad kind to dine alone at.

Loved the Shrimp n Grits- my husband thought the Turtle Soup to be excellent. My Shrimp and Eggplant appetizer was not as warm as expected and flavor was sub par Service from cocktail waiter and food waiter excellent Only thing I disliked was the automatic service charge- we were a party of two who were happy with the service- why not let us choose the tip?

Every thing was great accept the noise. We were seated next to a family birthday party with kids. It was very very noisy. Next time we will ask to be seated away from any large table with six or more.

We had a wonderful meal! Service was excellent and the room was lovely. We did have a loud table seated next to us but …. I don’t come to New Orleans for peace and quiet.

I have dined at Muriel's many times over the years. Today's experience I can only describe as miserable. Our favorite menu choices were unavailable. What was available was grossly overpriced (>$50) for an entree. When we finally received our food, my wife found hers inedible and my food was served cold. Service was friendly, but exceptionally slow. The only positive note was the live music. I doubt we will dine at Muriel's again after this experience, there are far too many great restaurants in the quarter to tolerate this kind of mediocrity.

You can never go wrong with Muriel’s. Fortunate to have them just minutes from home! Oh-and get the Drum! Our favorite entree!
