Welcome to Mulate’s! We are proudly family-owned and operated in New Orleans since 1990! Located conveniently on the corner of Julia Street and Convention Center Blvd, across from the Riverwalk and Convention center, Mulate’s is known as the original Cajun restaurant™, famous for preserving and celebrating the food, music and culture found in the small towns and along the bayous of south Louisiana. Mulate’s serves up traditional Cajun cuisine like gumbo and jambalaya, as well as some more modern Louisiana favorites like chargrilled oysters and southern fried chicken sandwiches. Our menu, designed by second-generation owner, Monique Boutté Christina, reflects an ongoing evolution of Louisiana cuisine. Don’t miss our specialty cocktails and local beers on draft!

This is the most convenient restaurant to the convention center and one of the oldest Cajun spots in New Orleans. I love the gumbo and the shrimp po'boy. Highly recommended.

Great place for Cajun food and authentic zydeco music! Only down was a lengthy wait for our meals. Cheeseburger was perfect! And frog legs were tops!

I always wanted to go but I don't go into the city fear of the crime rate. But I felt very safe. We parked in the lot right across the street. Gregory was a great waiter. Band was fun. Food was great. Will make a point in going back. Everyone should experience this at lease once in their life Thumbs up to every employee

Our first time visiting Mulate’s. The food & service did not disappoint. Audrey, our server, was very attentive and friendly. Will definitely return.

Food was below average. Calamari was very overcooked. Shrimp was ok, not great. Best item delivered to table appeared to be the cheeseburger. That it was not crowded on New Year’s Day should have been the first clue as to food quality
