A Family Tradition For Over 90 Years

Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant first opened in 1934 with Mrs. Knott and her children serving the first customers in their tea room. The restaurant has grown over the years into one of the largest in California, but the classic fried chicken dinner is still made the same way today using Mrs. Knott's recipes.

Every complete chicken dinner includes handmade biscuits, side salad, choice of cabbage or cherry rhubarb, three pieces of fried chicken, and mashed potatoes smothered in gravy. For dessert: your choice of boysenberry pie or boysenberry sherbet. Many other dishes are also available including grilled chicken, salads, and a number of appetizers. A full-service bar, serving signature boysenberry-infused cocktails, is also available.

Currently, we are following all government-issued regulations and seating is currently outside only. Thank you in advance for understanding and we are in this together.

    Staff was nice but unfortunately the food was so bland. The fried chicken was kept under a hot light or reheated in the microwave, it was stale and not crispy. The mashed potatoes were in between watery and clumpy…I’m not sure how that works but that’s what we tasted. We were happy about the chicken soup and rolls. Those are the starters though. Prices that high and none of us enjoyed are main courses.

    Mrs. Knott’s Chicken was a pleasant surprise. I would say the food is okay. I got the chicken dinner. It comes with: - Chicken (choice of mix - breast, wing, thigh or leg) or all dark or all white for an extra charge - Sides : Mashed potato or corn (or cabbage with ham) - Soup (or rhubarb) - Salad - Dessert (choice of pie) I got all dark (thighs). It was okay. Some were dry, which is weird for thigh. The soup was also just okay. It was thick and noodles felt a bit overdone. I liked corn and mashed potatoes with gravy. And salad was any given salad of mixed lettuce and a few toppings. This place is definitely a bang for your buck. I shared this and ended up taking the dessert home. You guys… Here’s the thing. The service was SO excellent. Our server, Cole, was so extra top notch. I can easily say he was one of the best waiters I’ve ever had! He offered all the options (I.e. Dressing on the side? Extra sauce? If you can’t decide, maybe a little bit of both?) I mean… He even heard our side talks and offered options. I didn’t have to ask for anything. I’m sure he made my evening. (Thank you!) TL;DR : Try it! It’s a bit of a novelty. It’s a good price for what you’re getting. And the service is awesome!

    Atmosphere was very good, clean and staff were friendly and attentive. Food wasntcas good as last year. Chicken was dry, turkey was overly salty yet the shrimp and prime rib were very flavorful. Other selections of food appeared dry and stagnant, as if in the warming try too long

    hostess was very rude to our party because we had an infant with stroller. she sat us in the middle of the aisle where my son could get hurt. unfortunately saw a gentleman in a wheelchair that was sat in the middle of the aisle as well, not ada friendly or safe . only redeeming experience was the service from michael at the omlette station and on waiter KC, they are exceptional!

    It is the best value for the chicken dinner plus more. The employees are informative and friendly. I had a great holiday with Charlie Brown and Snoopy.

    Our server was really nice and accommodating, however, the chicken fried steak and the fried chicken dinner were both completely overcooked and dry. Disappointing.

    Salad greens were old and droopy. Rhubarb was not cooked. Chicken was overcooked and dry. After eating the chicken dinner for 50 years I know it was not up to Cordelias standards by any means.
