   We booked for my daughter’s birthday. I informed the venue that it was a special occasion. The venue contacted me after booking to ask us to move to half an hour earlier- we accomodated them. We arrived on time, the waitress wasn’t sure where our table was and seated us next to the toilets in a busy walkway. We ordered within 10 ‘minutes of arrival, then waited over an hour for our food. Much of what we wanted to order was sold out on the menu. When - after an hour and 20 minutes of no contact/ updates we asked about the food- a bowl of chips was put down and we were told it would be at least another 20 minutes wait. We left on my daughter’s birthday with no food. Very very disappointed.

   The Mount Mcacedon Hotel proved to be a great spot for dinner to finish of a great day visiting the area. It had a rustic and relaxed charm. The staff were attentive and helpful. The menu was not extensive but there was enough good options for us.

   Gastro pub style meal which was an absolute delight five star flavour care and service highly recommend for a sensationally fresh and unique meal full of flavour . So glad we visited your hotel was one of four we dined in over 4 nights and yours was the tops for meal quality , service and atmosphere ! Many thanks

   As an infrequent visitor to the Mount Macedon hotel since 1984 although I live in the town, I was very disappointed to see the Mount Pub had become a shadow of its former self. The surface of the table we were given was sticky to the touch as though it had not been wiped down properly. The seats of the upholstered chairs at that table were sunken and made eating uncomfortable. The menu was limited and the food overcooked. My husband commented that the men's toilets were smelly and the floors covered with paper towels as the waste paper bin was overflowing. My visit to the ladies was not any better, overflowing paper bin and no toilet paper in any of the 3 stalls. Overall a once iconic landmark of Mount Macedon is now in need of a major overhaul to keep up with the other hotels and restaurants in the area.

   Our last experience was GREAT, so this may be just a one off 'not so great experience'. My steak was cold and the butter wouldn't even melt. I should have said something, however as we were a late booking (2.30pm) it looked like the kitchen staff were packing up. We popped outside after our meal to watch the live music which was beautiful. Not a nice meal experience, however as we have had positive ones in the past we will be back :)

   Great staff, great service, great food. Listening to two live bands in the beer garden was a bonus. We will be back again soon.

    Good plain pub food in a beautiful setting. I ate there with an extended family group on a beautiful early summer day so it was a very pleasant experience.
