Mita's is the second restaurant from James Beard Finalist Chef Jose Salazar and is named after his Colombian grandmother - his "Mita." The beautiful 130 seat restaurant designed by MSA Architects is located in the heart of downtown Cincinnati at the corner of Fifth and Race Streets on the ground floor of the 84.51 Building. Mita's eclectic, farm inspired tapas menu focuses on both the traditional and modern foods and beverages of Spain and Latin America, with charcuterie, ceviches, and paella.

    The food was good not great. I wish they would update the menu as it has been the same for a while.We got the pulpo which was the best dish. The lamb with masa was good but the masa itself was not tasty. Similarly the fish dish, the fish was fine but the muhamarra and the carrot didnt blend well with the fish. Service was good till it got busy and we had to wait a while to get the bill and the dessert. Still it is a great restaurant with a very good ambience.

    Great selection of tapas. Our server, Grace, was friendly, knowledgeable, and very willing to help us decide on wine pairings! Loved the pacing of the delivery of our dishes to our table.

    Usual excellent menu items. They have not been refreshed for awhile, but are perennial favorites. Wines are such a refreshing change from the normal Cincinnati fare. Service pacing was rough. Rather than reading the table situation, the server could only ask "how is everything" when the whole table was instantly filled with dishes that we couldn't consume fast enough. If the pacing had slowed, he would have sold more wine and we would have enjoyed the selections more. We were clearly going to spend some time and take a variety of items. However, well done to Jose and the team for keeping Mita's at the top of the Cincinnati fine/casual dining with dishes I can only find in Spain or South America. We will be back.

    I am a chef and owner of a catering company, so I can’t help but be more of a critique when it comes to food and service in my hometown of Cincinnati. I don’t even make much time for reviews and have never been compelled to write one as I have now. We were hosting a foreign exchange student from Spain and I wanted to treat her and my family to a spread that we all could enjoy and give her a little taste of home with her meal. The food and service were absolutely incredible and we ended up ordering almost half of the entire menu and tasted at all. Irati was taken back and our table became quiet at every single course. This is easily my favorite restaurant in Cincinnati and I am eager to get back and share this gem with others.

    The food was great but service was terrible, we didn’t receive any service from her after she took our orders for food. There was no assistance through the menu, which is a bit unique and we could have used some guidance. Never checked up on us, seemed standoff ish. Cool space and drinks were great.
