   Very well decorated and inviting. The service was good and the food was excellent. The charred octopus was incredible and the steak and frites was cooked to perfection. The tunisian brik ahi was outstanding and the chocolate pot au creme for dessert was amazing. When back in Milwaukee will definitely be back.

   Great food. GREAT food. An impressive wine list for a smaller place. Quiet and good for talking if not busy, which was great for a business meal. Tables are closer together so could get difficult as the evening goes on or on a weekend to hear. This has become my new favorite restaurant. I’ve been a few times and it never disappoints. Highly recommend the octopus & cauliflower small plates!

   Found this place while searching online for something "new" I hadn't tried before....I drive by the Avalon frequently, but had no idea this was there! The ambiance is soft and soothing, perfect for a romantic dinner or to engage in conversation with old friends. Some of the appetizer portions were small, but the food was outstanding!! I had the rabbit cacciatore and it was delicious! (never had such tasty rabbit before, not gamey in the least). Entree portions were adequately sized. Went on a Saturday and service was a little off, there was only one server for the dozen or so tables, and many had been seated at the same time, so she was just too busy to be really attentive (though she did try her best). I will definitely go again!

   Wonderful pace for great food, quiet surroundings and attentive staff. We had traveled all day and wanted appetizers and some wine. We sat at the bar, it was perfect. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.

   My wife and I had a very lovely dinner at Mistral. The food was interesting and delicious, and the service was very friendly and professional. It's also a cozy space.

   I took my wife there for our anniversary. What a crummy experience. I made reservations for a Saturday at 7 pm. We were seated promptly (the only thing that was prompt all night). However, you would assume that I had made the reservation for 6 since we were sandwiched in between two other tables. I could have looked over at the table next to us and whisper in their ear without having to lean over to do so. A little too close for comfort. Next we ordered our drinks, took about 10 minutes to get a glass of wine and a can of beer. Of course the beer glass I was given had lipstick on it, so I showed the server and she went to get me a new can and glass. Fast forward another 15-20 minutes then she finally came back to take our order. The food was average at best. All in all, the experience of sitting on top of other tables, the unusual long wait time from drink order to food order, and the lackluster food made this a dining experience that I wish not to repeat. I had high hopes for this establishment but was let down. The prices were decent for the "upscale" menu though.

   Great food, great service. Our reservation was for 6:30 - prime hours and still great service. Innovative menu. Can't say enough great things.

   The food and service were exceptional. Wonderful attentiveness from our waitress and serving staff. The chef, Joe, came to visit our table to insure we were happy with everything. The food was delicious and the presentation was perfect. Cannot wait to go back again to try the other amazing menu items.

    Service was outstanding. Branzino and Turmeric roasted cauliflower were outstanding. Other selections needed more go withs - Tunisian Brik with ahi tuna a bit bland and could use more seasoning. chocolate hazelnut tart needed more hazelnut and could have used some raspberry coulis. Honey saffron panna cotta could have used more grapefruit syrup.
