Chef Nico’s love for the culinary arts started at age nine, when he worked for a bakery, making deliveries and assisting in the kitchen in Mexico. Nico honed his skills at several restaurants throughout the country, in states such as Vera Cruz, where he learned about seafood, dried chilies, and making sauces from scratch, and Oaxaca, where he perfected tamale-making techniques. In 1996 he left Mexico for Dallas so he could pursue his goal of becoming a renowned chef. By traveling from state to state throughout Mexico, Chef Nico learned many of the culinary skills that patrons in the area enjoy every day. Chef Nico earned his reputation within the Dallas restaurant scene by working at Cuba Libre, The Porch, Hibiscus, and Meso Maya. His food is celebrated for its complexity, unique presentation, and fresh flavors (thanks, in part, to his love of gardening—he grows peppers, tomatoes, squash, and onions).

Great food, it always is. Server and service wasn’t as great they seemed tired and ready to get off work. Understandable reservation was at 8:45 as the place closes at 9:00 pm. Still worth visiting the food is great

Service was really responsive. I have been to Meso Mayo before but it was my friend's family first time here. All five members of his family really enjoyed the food and the ambiance. The portion sizes were good also.

Drinks were so slow that we cancelled our second one!! No bartender, manager was bartending and doing other responsibilities. Chip server was rude!! asked for a second salsa and she practically threw it at us.. UGH...server tried, she was good.

We love Meso Maya, but this location was awful. Service was terrible, and food was poor. My ceviche was inedible and the waitress didn’t even consider taking it off of the bill. We won’t go back to this location.

We arrived at 8, did not receive our drinks until 8:45 only waters. Appetizer s came in around 9:30 and food didn’t arrive till 10pm, the waiter did the best he could but it looked like they were understaffed however I have been to Meso Maya before and every time is the same type of service. Our food was cold so I’m not sure why the wait was long, maybe half of our plates were sitting there while the rest of the food was done.
