Mermaid Oyster Bar is a family of casually sophisticated seafood restaurants born in New York in 2003.

Starting out in Manhattan’s East Village as a spot-on rendition of a casual New England fish shack, The Mermaid Inn has morphed into an American seafood brasserie, replete with style, hospitality and a menu marked by bold and seasonally inspired cuisine. The Mermaid Inn has been designed to evoke the feeling of being on a mini vacation in a small seaside village.

Absolutely lovely early dinner. We caught the tail end of happy hour and took full advantage with 4 dozen oysters. Delicious and fresh! Jonathan and Malcolm were amazing and took great care with us, especially with making sure none of our dishes had gluten as one of us was gluten intolerant. Highly recommend!! Middle of super touristy zone but not touristy at all. This was my 4th time back and won't be my last.

Tuna with cauliflower rice dish was amazing!! Nice rare tuna steak. The salmon and kale with a mustard sauce was also delicious. Plus happy hour margaritas, what could be better!

Happy hour portions….smallest I have ever had!! Quality was not nearly as good this year as it was last year. Service, however, was very good.

This was my first time attending a show at Town Hall, next door, in about three years. I was happy to see the Mermaid Inn opened a restaurant on the block. I've been to the one on the Upper Westside so it was an easy choice to go there. The ambience was very nice, tables were roomy and the food was delicious. If you want Seafood in the area I highly recommend it.

Despite the high volume of diners the service was excellent--friendly, efficient, speedy. Food came out quickly and very tasty. The chorizo on the cod is chopped a little too small I think so it gets a bit dry and hard in the oven.
