I took my parents, who are usually very selective about what they eat, to this restaurant. Everyone left smiling and very pleased with their meal. It was delicious. I would recommend it to anyone and will be returning!!!

Well, this place has changed. Friday, August 11, 2017. It was the last day of a trip I'd taken my 13 year old daughter on - we'd explored all of DC we could manage in five days and - having been to Marvin once previously a few years ago - I thought we'd celebrate our trip over a nice dinner at a place I knew to be good. There were two unsmiling hostesses to great us - I mentioned we had a reservation. They looked us up and literally turned their backs to us to share a private word. I thought it was a little awkward, but whatever. We were seated and the hostess/waitress came back a moment later to ask for a drink order. Literally, within in three minutes she returned with my beer and asked if we were ready to order. Uh-oh. That's never a good sign. We'd been in the restaurant for several minutes by this time - hardly time to take in the place, to look over the menu, to chat about our week - nothing. Nor did the unsmiling waitress have ANY suggestions, recommendations, helpful comments. She didn't introduce herself or ask how we were. Absolutely nothing. We asked for more time to look over the menu. She came back eventually and stood behind me to take our order (my back being to the mural - facing the mirror) - there was space next to us! Why wouldn't she stand where she could talk to us more easily. So I turned in my chair to see her and place our order. The food was fine, but not spectacular, and not worth the cost. It's mostly just that we weren't made to feel welcome at all and spending $85 + tip for that "privilege" was pretty frustrating. I'd been looking forward to making MarvinDC part of my trip to DC with family in the future. That's not going to be the case. I won't return, nor would I recommend somebody patronize Marvin, which is unfortunate.

My chicken was a bit underdone/cold. I would have liked it fried harder. Scallops were great. Wine and drinks were top notch.

Took a client to dinner to celebrate the signing of a contract, and our server, Duane (spelling??) took care of us all evening. He made it very special and relaxing as we didn't have to ask to refill our drinks, and he made a couple of recommendations that were SPOT ON for what we were craving. Definitely recommend to anybody looking for a good meal, and has a "southern food fine dining tooth" (if that even makes sense).

I went to Marvin to celebrate my birthday with my fiance. Food was good, prices are reasonable, and the staff was very attentive. I highly recommend the shrimp and grits, and my fiance said the curried mussels were outstanding. I'm very glad to have found this place - I will definitely return and recommend it to friends.

We've had better burgers, chicken was over fried & dry. Music & collards were great!
