About this restaurant

  • Innovative
  • Romantic
  • Great for fine wines
Edinburgh’s esteemed chef, Martin Wishart, has added a touch of Michelin-starred luxury to the already impressive Cameron House – a stylish hotel on the shores of Loch Lomond. Head Chef Stewart Boyles worked with Martin in the kitchen at Restaurant Martin Wishart, so it’s no surprise that the food here is similarly flawless. The menu features elegant French dishes like roast John Dory forestière with truffle jus; Jerusalem artichoke velouté with langoustines; and a lighter-than-air passion fruit soufflé. The restaurant itself is light and airy with striped chairs, comfortable banquettes and shades of taupe and plum creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The attentive service, unpretentious atmosphere and thoughtfully chosen wine list complete this unforgettable dining experience.

The staff are amazing here and each time you go there is always a new flavour you get to try. Wine by the glass with each course is a great way to try different wines you would not get the chance too. Always 5 out of 5.

Martin Wishart at Loch Lomond is a wonderful room and terrific overall gourmet experience. We have eaten there several times over the past two years and the congenial service and authentic desire to please their guests is refreshing and appreciated. The food is outstanding, creative, flavorful and thoughtful...respectful of origin and seasonality of their produce and game. It is 'formal' in service but not stuffy...a great respite for the blasé 'gastro-casual' that is so common in better restaurants these days. They are well deserved of their Michelin star, more so than most other restaurants with this award in Scotland today.

Having now enjoyed all of the MW restaurants we can safely say that they represent the best of Scottish cookery and gracious service. A thoughtful and well executed menu with personalized wine pairing provided a wonderful evening. The room may appear a bit formal but the service is friendly and skilled. Good job to the MW team and we will see you again on our next trip to Scotland!

We chose the 6 course taster lunch on a Saturday. It isn't cheap so be prepared to spend £80 per head plus £15 per head for cheese but having been in many Michelin star restaurants, this lunch was worth every penny. The amuse bouche were lovely, the courses were well thought out and executed to perfection. Although small portions as expected, we were completely full for the rest of the day. The staff are friendly but very professional. It is always a hard balance between friendly and professional but the waiting staff managed it perfectly. Overall our lunch was over £200 and worth every penny, however don't be put off by the price as they have a wonderful set menu with 2 choices for starters, main and dessert for £32. Looking at other tables, the standard of this food was exceptional. The restaurant is slightly noisy when the seaplane takes off for trips over Loch Lomond but to be honest that just added to the atmosphere of a wonderful setting. Lovely views if you get a table near the window.

This was our fourth or fifth visit to Martin Wishart, and once again we were not disappointed. Although we only visit once a year, we were greeted warmly by the manager and staff, and offered a very nice complimentary glass of champagne which made us feel special. The food was outstanding as always, and the wine pairings perfect. We will go back again

Excellent food - interesting, carefully thought-out and prepared - combined with a pleasant, calm room that doesn't distract. The Maitre d' was ever-so-slightly abrasive and the sommelier just performed a parrot-fashion recitation of each wine rather than being prepared to engage in any kind of conversation, but that's nit picking really; the service overall was excellent - professional yet friendly. The evening was a family clebration so my wife and I came with our sons (13 & 8) - we were all made to feel entirely welcome and all four of us relished our tasting menus. That it matched our four rather different appetites and tastes is a great reflection on both the kitchen and front of house. Expensive? Yes, of course, but very good value.

We had the 6 course tasting menu and both the food & service were superb. Each dish is a masterpiece and the waiters explain every course as they serve it. A bottle of Rose was £36 - not too bad for this kind of establishment. Definitely a place for the special occasion and sitting in the Cameron House Hotel, which is a great venue too.

We had first-class food, wine and service. The waiter who specialised in the cheeses available was extremely knowledgeable and able to offer excellent cheeses that suited our tastes after a brief discussion. The meal was a wonderful experience but has to be classed as a very special occasion treat as even from the cheapest lunch menu we were able to spend a significant amount for one meal. So be prepared to spend to enjoy.
