   We wanted to try this restaurant last year, but due to the Nottingham Festival, the restaurant was closed. This year, we have finally made it. Attentive services and good wine and food. My guests were very happy, so it was a very good night out.

   Some of the tastiest food I have every eaten, well explained by the waiting staff who provided excellent service throughout, being attentive but not intrusive

   Decent food but for the money it had far too many imperfections. The trout amuse bouche was too fishy and lacked freshness. The charcoal potatoes were mildy interesting but unexciting and i don’t think that fresh peppermint was an appropriate pairing. The mullet was well cooked and seasoned but the bouillabase espuma was a bit bland and served almost cold which was a bit gross. The duck was beautifully cooked and was clearly excellent quality produce but the garnishes was grape puree and nectarine which was sweet with sweet with sweet - some earth as well would have been better. My partner is pescatarian and they subsituted the duck with a generous portion of langoustine and scallop which were perfectly cooked but really should have had their own garnishes rather than the exact same as the duck - this was poor dish amd lazy catering for dietary requirements. The chocolate, passion fruit and orange dessert was a lovely balance of richness and tart fresness but the mousse was a bit dense. Overall i think the execution was good but there dishes were a concieved with flaws, perhaps trying to be different at the expense of getting the eating right. Service was very effecient amd professional but a little too formal for our personal taste

   I was disappointed to learn at the restaurant that Marianne Lumb had left over a month ago as my reason for booking the restaurant was to sample her cooking before her announced departure in August. I am to blame for having waited too long to eat at this restaurant while Marianne Lumb was there. I enjoyed the meal thoroughly but hope for a return to our shores of Marianne in the not too distant future.

   We had an exceptional experience at Marianne. Every course was a culinary treasure with beautiful presentation. Highly recommended for a special occasion.

   It was a pleasant meal but not what is was unfortunately. The service is great but the food just doesn’t quite hit the mark, particularly as still priced as if the food was exceptional

    Beautiful venue, intimate and like another world. Food was fabulous - particularly the potatoes in charcoal.
