This was our first visit to Mariachi and we will be going back! I was very impressed with the decor of the restaurant, particularly the beautifully painted chairs at every table. (The chairs were heavy duty wood with lovely brightly painted scenes on what looked like tile seat backs.) Everything from the ceiling to wall murals was bright, colorful and clean. The menu is large with everything from the traditional tacos and burritos to interesting dinner entrees. My husband had a huge shredded pork burrito that came with a nice side salad with a creamy vinagrette dressing. I ordered a seafood entree of large mussels, some shrimp and small scallops in a uniquely flavored scampi dressing (just enough, not swimming in it.) The cilantro added a great flavor and the dish came with yellow rice and nice side of the same salad mentioned before. The food was fantastic and the waiter was very sweet although he either forgot or did not understand that we wanted lemon with our iced teas and sugar substitute, even though we specifically requested it (so we never got it). But that is why I carry my own sugar packets, just in case. My salad was also missing dressing but when I pointed that out he immediately returned with a serving of dressing. The restaurant is also much larger inside than it would appear from the sidewalk. When we asked about dessert, we were given a menu with 12 or more options but after choosing something, the waiter came back and said that only about 5 items were actually available, including one children's option for an ice cream with a bear's face. We chose a different dessert that was like a warm chocolate brownie with hot chocolate filling and hazelnuts. It was excellent. Therefore, the overall experience was a good one, and we would definitely like to try other options.

The food is absolutely delicious! Wonderful service in a relaxed atmosphere. The table side guacamole is amazing. Highly recommend

We went on a Sunday 12/29 at 7pm and found the restaurant 1/2 full. They seem to be having a staff shortage. There was only 2 people working. 1 waiter and another guy who was playing the role of host & bus boy. I give them credit bc they did the best they could to serve everyone there. Food was good, but you don’t get much. My husbands burrito was good. I had chicken enchiladas and they didn’t have a lot of meat in it but were tasty. Will try to return and hopefully they get some more staff members.

Nice place very colorful. BYOB and they made us our sangria while we waited for the other couple to show. Tasted good with little pieces of fruit was nice change. The guys had ground beef enchiladas which were filled nicely and bubbly hot with melted cheese. Tasted very fresh. One of the ladies had taco salad which was big and nice amount of shredded chicken. Other one got a triple combo with enchilada, chimichanga and burrito. First two had ground beef last had shredded chicken. All were good although she seem to taste a curry flavor with the red sauce. Neither of us boys elthat had enchiladas with the red sauce had that flavor though. Service was fast and friendly. We asked if they had a military discount and they came back with @ 10% discount which was nice. Great place all around!

Table side Guacamole AMAZING. Tacos, set of 3 you will not go hungry and so fresh!! We go there often, more reviews to come. BYOB and they will make sangria if you bring the wine

We went to Mariachi restaurant in Metuchen last weekend for a family lunch. The food was quite good and the prices reasonable, the reason I would go there again. Since the weather was not great, and there were very few other customers in the restaurant. Still, the service was quite poor. We literally had to go and call the server to come take our orders. Maybe this was an exception, but certainly detracted from our experience.
