Situated in the heart of St Davids - Britains smallest city - MamGu Welshcakes don't just sell traditional and alternative welsh cakes but is a warm, welcoming and cosy cafe found in the ruins of St Marys Chapel, a 14th century part of St Davids Cathedral. Our menu serves a delicious twist on old Welsh dishes, with Welsh Rarebit, Cawl, and Crempogs to name a few. The MamGu kitchen is proud to source almost all ingredients locally as possible.

When visiting us you instantly feel what MamGu Welshcakes is about: family, togetherness, laughing, relaxing and open arms - this paired with the idea to teach visitors about the welsh culture and to push its boundaries blend for a truly memorable experience.

Park at Solva Harbour car park. There is a small fee to pay during the high season but you can also go for a walk to the lime kilns, walk the coastal path, enjoy the boats in the harbour aswell as wondering along the gorgeous high street looking at the independent shops.

Scrumptious breakfast, and we shared a stack of cremepogs too. Not because we were still hungry but because they sounded delicious and we really wanted to try them. We were right. Blummin’ lovely they were. Going again next week then we’ll be anxiously awaiting them opening in St David’s.

Overall, was lovely, service friendly. Food was let down a tad. I had the Eggs Benedict on the Cheese & Leek Welshcakes. The eggs were overcooked and served on a cold plate with hollandaise on the plate so rather unpleasant to eat cold. Silly things and can be easily rectified. No check as to whether our meals were good either. It wasnt busy so not really any reason to not be as expected.

Lovely interior homely and cosy. Just opened first thing in morning so i was only one in cafe. Food came swiftly. Lots on menu to choose from. Tasty and I bought a variety of welshcakes to take home. Lots of different flavours to try. Friendly staff, quite chatty to each other behind scenes so bit noisy I guess 🤣 but happy vibe.

We always visit Mamgus every time we are in Solva but would recommend booking as very popular. We ordered breakfast for four and service was quick. Superb quality, I had the veggie breakfast, beautiful and the savoury Welsh cake was delicious.
