   Booked through Open Table for Mother's Day but told by restaurant only a couple of days before that they had over booked as their system wasn't up to date!!! Not impressed!!!

   The evening meal was fantastic, really lovely, Breakfast food tasted lovely but the service/ordering/obtaining - chaos

   Booked malmaison due to the good reviews, you cannot fault the setting, it's quirky and a great dining venue. The goats cheese starter was well presented and tasty. Steak frites for main course was ok, for £21 expect more that a minute steak. It hadn't been trimmed so there was a considerable amount of fat. The service was very slow. The main courses were not value for money ranging from £18-£30. You are paying for the setting. I love fine dining and am willing to pay but I thought that the value was poor. I was quite disappointed and don't think I would go back, one to tick off the Oxford list.

   I came here with a couple of friends for a birthday celebration and cannot recommend the Sunday lunch highly enough. Great location, lovely service and the most delicious food, excellent quality and choice. We will definitely be back

   Food was lacklustre - looked great but had stale tacos and main course lacked balance. Mussels were totally overwhelmed by heavy spicing. Service was slow but it was busy. Disappointing

   First time dining at Malmaison; we had an early reservation, and the restaurant filled up over time with a good buzz but not too noisy. Great menu with some inventive ideas; I had the crab tacos - the filling was great, the taco shell not really what i was expecting but tasty. The lamb was perfectly cooked rare, the potatoes parmentier creamy and luscious. The best was the pineapple carpaccio - perfectly ripe thinly sliced whole pineapple rings, with a mint and chile spritz, and a scoop of coconut gelato - fab! Wine list was nice and not too spendy, good options. Service was attentive and well paced. We had a super evening!

   It's a very gloomy restaurant and no lively atmosphere unfortunately. It took nearly ten minutes for a member of staff to acknowledge we were waiting to be seated, and we had already booked a table. Again, there was a delay in taking our drinks and food order although there was only one other table occupied by six people. The food took over 45 minutes to come once we had ordered and was fairly unimpressive. I had the goats cheese, apple and pear platter, which had the minimum amount of goats cheese they could probably get away with! Overall a disappointing experience and I wouldn't wish to visit again sadly. It just didn't live up to expectations, a real shame.

   Sunday lunch was always good here, but they had a wobble a while back. The buffet starter was great, although I missed the lady hand carving the Serrano ham - missed the ham as well come to that! Roast beef came as ordered - rare. Roasted vegetables a little bland and not crispy. Puddings delicious.

    We went to Sunday lunch 2 Sunday's running; the second because we were so impressed with the food and location of this brasserie (although the service was a little hit and miss). The second time, this one, it might have been a different restaurant! Although the starter buffet was excellent on both occasions, the Sunday roast was completely different. The first time the beef was cooked just how I ordered it, there were plenty of vegetables and the Yorkshire puddings were to die for. This time the meat looked and tasted microwaved and had to be sent back, there must have been 3 French beans in total, soggy potatoes and flat yorkshires. So well done Malmaison, you converted a Malmaison enthusiast from the first week into a very disappointed customer the second. Bad business!
