   My wife and I had eaten at the restaurant about a month or so ago. At the time, we were surprised to see all new wait staff and to hear that the restaurant had changed hands (we had last eaten under the old owners a few months previously). The new owners had dropped the liquor licence--it was not clear why--but we were told that we could go down the street and pick up some beer to drink with our meal. The menu was otherwise unchanged and the food was more or less as we remembered though a little hotter than we expected (I am sure we were asked how we wanted it and we had said "mild"). Still, all said, we were not dissatisfied. That was then. Our visit this week was a very different experience. The physical layout was different; the restaurant seemed to have been emptied out; the central divider was gone along with the carpet. It had lost its warmth and felt much less intimate. When we arrived at 7 pm, the place was empty. Moreover, our friend, who had come in earlier, was told that there was no reservation under my name (Open Table had it of course) and she was sent out into the cold to find the right restaurant. She returned half an hour later very cold and upset. It was downhill from there: the waitress could not open the wine bottle, the service was exceedingly slow, the food was cold.... In our view, Maison India has greatly impaired its goodwill. It will take a serious effort to recover its reputation as one of the best Indian restaurants in Montreal.

   Great, friendly service! Very happy with the help we received when choosing what to order. Kid friendly as well.

   C'est un de nos restaurants préférés. Nous y sommes allés plusieurs fois et c'était toujours délicieux. Toutefois, cette fois-ci, les crevettes tandoori étaient un peu brûlées et la serveuse ne parlait pas français. Nous nous sommes demandé si le restaurant avait changé d'administration.
