   I took my wife here for dinner before going to the theatre. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT experience. Great Smiles, Great Service, AMAZING FOOD. Great prices. All around perfection. Beautiful place, nice atmosphere.

   We were able to sit and visit with our friends and enjoy an excellent meal. We each ordered a different main course and we were very happy with our choices. One was hot, two were Thai specialities, and two were on the main menu - Chef specialities. I highly recommend this restaurant.

   Not our best experience this last time. Out of any by-the-glass Chardonnay. Out of regular menu item, lamb with curry. Duck with honey marinade did not fall off the bone as advertised. Will go back but will have to think about it.

   Mai Thai has been one of our favorite restaurant for years. Their kitchen is innovative, creative and has never disappointed us. Their sushi is amazing. The ambiance is great, the service has always been top-notch--until last night. The waiter, who was unknown to us, did not get our (very simple) sushi order right and forgot one of our main dishes. It took another fifteen minutes to get the rest of our dinner. My wife's dinner ended up getting cold because she did not want to eat alone. We had to ask several times to get some soy sauce--which is usually put on the table before the dinner arrives. Knowing when to drop the check also is an art a waiter needs to learn. Our waiter obviously had not mastered this yet. No one wants to feel rushed at dinner, and having the check plopped down while you are still eating is, in my opinion, a not so subtle way of saying, 'time to get out'. That being said, our usual waiter, Joseph, dropped by our table as we were about to leave and inquired about our experience. After informing him of what had transpired, he apologized and explained that this had been the young man's first day on the job. This of course, explained a lot! Despite this not-so great experience, Mai Thai will remain one of our favorite dinner destinations in Boise.

   We had a 7:30 pm dinner reservation. We didn't see a waiter until 20 minutes later. At least we got water. They sat us right next to the indoor water feature. I do not recommend sitting there. The water fountain had a smell I would describe as wet dog. It was also splashing onto the table. I asked if they could turn off the water feature. They said they would ask the manager but nothing happened. Since the restaurant was full I asked if they could seat us in the bar. But the bar was full as well. We decided to power through it and try the food. I had the Cashew Chicken. It was OK at best. Not much chicken. My wife just had vegetable fried rice. It was greasy. But the beer was good... At least the manager comped our dinner. We won't be back.

   I absolutely love Mai tai! I've been coming here since they opened and it has never once let me down! Evil jungle prince and swimming angel are my favorite dishes right now (it's always changing). Larry is a fantastic waiter with thorough knowledge of the dishes and it's a good idea to take him up on anything he suggests : ) The ambiance, price, quality, killer cocktails!! and the friendly staff will always have me coming here over any other restaurant. Oh! And they fry their tofu perfectly! Yum!

   Our waiter was nice but not great. Took a long time between cocktails for him to even ask if we wanted more. Long delay in taking our order. Table next to us came in after us, had a different waitress and their drinks and food came out long before ours. It was disappointing. My husband did however enjoy the Boar. It was delicious.

    We had the lunch buffet and enjoyed the Duck noodle Soup, salad and appetizers. Some other foods were a little too spicy for us, but we tried everything and will go back for special dining.
