Very friendly staff, pleasurable experience, follows the “Alice in Wonderland” theme with great crockery, some dress up clothes which is a nice touch, lovely selection of teas. We felt as it was Easter they could have elevated the courtyard by adding in a few Easter decorations, just a thought for next year.

Quite rich for them to add a 13.5% service charge they claim is discretionary when the minimum charge is £65 pp. When the locals requested it to be removed at the table next to me it was with no questions asked. I attempted the same and was met with a response of “yes, it’s an included service charge”. Needless to say this left a bad taste in my mouth and I will not return on my next visit to London.

The food was really good and interested and they have put a lot of thought into it. Unfortunately the service is lacking and for the price you are paying and they are trying to compete with other top hotels it was a real let down. Our champagne did not arrive and we had to ask again for it. We had to ask three times to get more cream, as a tiny dish for 4 scones is not enough. You also have to wave staff down to order more tea, as they are not attentive. They then overcharged us and when I questioned it the manager was rude and tried to accuse me of lying in front of other guests. He was trying to be dominant and did not think about how his actions affected our experience. He then seemed put out that I stuck to my guns and tried to make me feel like I was in the wrong. He then confronted staff of their errors in front of guests and it was very unprofessional. The food was good but a few things that could improve it. The texture of the cheesecake was wrong and rubbery, not enough cream for the scones and caterpillars just fell apart so difficult to eat. The red velvet, lemon dessert and chocolate and caramel pastries were amazing and made it. Would I return NO, this could be a great experience but I would to prefer to save my money and go to a top hotel where service would be much more professional and a better experience.

Lovely afternoon tea in a swanky hotel! The teas were so delicious and the service was absolutely lovely. Defintely give the Mad Hatter tea a try and make sure you go hungry! There eas quite a bit of food left over. We were a party of 5: 2 adults and three children, but all of us enjoyed from the adult menu. The tea sandwiches were very tasty, the scones were amazing and the desserts, not too sweet. The wait staff were very attentive and friendly. My kids enjoyed the experience so much, they are already planning to do this again if we ever return to London.
