   Most Lupe Tortilla locations have changed their salsa (not the Hwy 6/I-10 or Katy locations). I prefer the original so I always request it. Recently, they started charging 25 cents for each tiny little bowl of the original salsa! I emailed a complaint and received the response below. I know the information given in their email is completely inaccurate (ingredients are NOT expensive and restaurants get a discount, and they do NOT have the best interest of their customers in mind!). I feel that if they are going to charge for one salsa, then they should charge for the other. It may sound petty, it's just the principle of the matter! Here's their email... "For years, our number one complaint was that the original salsa was more of a “pico de gallo” rather than a traditional blended salsa. After testing the new salsa, the complaints decreased and only about 5% of guests were requesting the original salsa. We decided to make it available by request only: as for the charge, we hope you will understand that neither salsa is actually free. The cost of the chips, salsa and beans we serve every guest are included in the price of our food and beverages. With this in mind, we added a $0.25 charge for the old salsa to cover the cost of what is a very expensive product. We decided to do this because it did not seem fair to charge 100% of our guests for something that only 5% were asking for. The charge helps prevent an increase in the overall cost of our food and beverages. Knowing all of this we hope that you will see our decision was made with the best interest of all of our valued guests in mind."
