   Review of L’Étoile, Oyster Bay L’Étoile has brought fine dining to Oyster Bay, opening in the beautifully restored landmark Schnouder’s drugstore building. The space is thoughtfully and elegantly decorated, though I was a little disappointed that there was no homage to the building’s past — the old drugstore had such a unique charm, and a small nod to its history would’ve been a nice touch. Attached to the restaurant is a shop called Provisions, which looked very inviting from the window, although I didn’t have the chance to step inside. Service was excellent across the board. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive, and everything flowed seamlessly — a rare and appreciated detail. The atmosphere, however, was extremely loud. It was tough to hold a conversation at times, and a bit more noise control would really elevate the overall experience. As for the food — it was outstanding. To start, we shared a cheese plate, a meat plate, escargot, caviar, and steak tartare prepared tableside. Every single bite was delicious and beautifully presented. (The French onion soup also looked incredible, with a gorgeous puff pastry crown — definitely something I’ll try next time.) For my main course, I had the moules frites in a white wine and cream sauce. The mussels were perfectly cooked and flavorful. Sadly, the fries were a major miss — they tasted like cardboard. And really, a good fry only needs a great potato, hot oil, and a sprinkle of salt. It was a surprising misstep given how strong everything else was. Around the table, other dishes included the duck (excellent), the meatballs (also excellent), the chicken in a lemon garlic sauce (delicious), and a chicken stew served over puff pastry that my friend said was good, though it felt more like an upscale chicken pot pie. L’Étoile is definitely on the pricey side, but in this case, it felt worth it — it’s true fine dining for Oyster Bay.    Nice new restaurant from Stellina folks. Unfortunately the ceiling is quite low so the noise level is terrible. Food generally good. Not classic French food but they try. Excellent oysters and mussels. Very fresh. Veggies not fresh and salad over dressed. Overall a nice experience but would prefer to return when not so crowded and noise level lower.

   Dined at this charming new French local restaurant, that just opened days prior. Clearly some kinks to work out still. A requested medium rare steak came out well done, but they very kindly brought another one cooked perfectly. The cold Lobster cocktail was outstanding. The server Samantha was fantastic as well as the hostess Julia. We will definitely return to this restaurant.

   It was a very nice restaurant. It is very light and bright and pretty. A great addition. Onion soup is a stand out. Nice wine list. The only issue is that the acoustics aren’t great. It’s a very loud restaurant. Maybe in time they will add some sound absorption decor. Otherwise a very fun and delicious night out.

   The restaurant is an echo chamber, so the noise level was VERY loud. Food excellent, wine selection okay, service typical of a French bistro.

    From the moment we walked in, it was top notch. Managers Julia and Bruno are absolutely wonderful. Incredible service. Gerardo at the bar couldn’t be more skilled and accommodating, and our server Brianna was incredibly kind and knowledgeable. The best new addition to Oyster Bay!
