Leopold's Gasthaus is a restaurant serving Bavarian cuisine in San Francisco, California. Guests will find that Leopold's offers the same warm and cozy ambiance that one might find in any traditional gasthaus in northern Italy, Austria or Bavaria. Handmade pine booths and a central communal dining table fill the homey space, as paintings and pictures of old-world European life decorate the walls. The food at Leopold's is simple and rustic, but brings a depth of flavor that belies its seemingly humble ingredients. We are a small neighborhood restaurant who will except walk-ins and also add to our wait list if reservations are full.

We went to celebrate my wife's birthday, and it was a really enjoyable experience. The place had such a nice ambience and feel, and we were surprised with ourselves for not discovering this place earlier. That, and their beer is the main draw. Food is quite good, but not exceptional. People are really nice, and it's a great place to have a good chilling time.

Great meal at a great location, even on a very busy Saturday night food arrived quickly and was delicious. Only negative is how noisy the crowd was, so try off peak if you want sometime a bit more intimate

Love this place for many years now. There is nothing like schnitzel and beer. It can get very loud on Friday and Sat evenings, so we avoid then. The food is good and fresh. The staff is always efficient and friendly. Good beer selection and they even have a good IPA finally. Go!

Great selection of food and beer. Went for dinner: Weinerschnitzel moist with nice crust; Tagliatelle with chicken delicious in velvet sauce. The apfelstudel was a little rubbery, but ok. Went on a Sunday night and it was busy and loud (in a good way) by 8 pm. Highly recommend!

Great jaegerschnitzel! I only wish they would get some excellent Belgian mayonesse for their fries instead of aoli which takes away from the experiance. The beer was Excellant!!

Best best best food and service. Don’t be deterred by German cuisine. These guys have got it down. I love all foods, tend toward Italian and Mediterranean but am Armenian and it’s as good as it gets.

Nice atmosphere that makes you feel like you are in a German gasthaus. Food was good-tasty and substantial-and service was very friendly. Food is typical German/east European, so it is full and hearty rather than elegant and fresh in California style. But for when you have that craving this is one of the few places in SF to satisfy it.

The servers were very friendly and offered great suggestions on food and beverages! The portions are big and you won’t leave hungry. The overall service and food was awesome. We will be returning for another date night!
