The very first Legendary Spice (Kuan Zhai) opened in 2017 in Chengdu China and in the same year the second Legendary Spice opened in University of Minnesota twin cities campus. Legendary Spice is a family owned and run business, with it’s roots in Chengdu, China. In just one year Legendary Spice became one of the most beloved Chinese restaurants in the Minneapolis area, and continues to be a favorite for many residents. Legendary Spice prides itself on providing traditional Sichuan cuisine with high-quality ingredients.

Our mission is to offer, elevate, and promote gourmet authentic Chinese cuisine and provide exceptional customer service, a mission we have always and will continue to pursue, never wavering. Our Grade-A chefs are skillfully trained in Sichuan cuisine to provide the most authentic flavors at all locations. Fabulous. They have 2 hour offstreet parking too. Enter on Huron next to the restaurant.

I understand switching to online ordering at the table, but menus should still be offered as an option, your menu is far too large to rely on your phone to find items quickly/easily. It also has changed the overall experience where it’s harder to get anyone’s attention when there are menu questions or other items needed.

We had a mix-up and went to the Huron location instead of the University Avenue location, but everything was top notch! Fantastic service and food.

We went with 13 people and they seemed a little surprised. I thought I was reserving the round table in the private room and they were worried we wouldn’t fit. They did get a few more chairs and we squished in there but it was awesome. The chairs were big enough where we felt like we had enough room (we had 7 big men in the group). The service was great and fast. The food was delicious. We had 2 gluten free/vegan guests and they were able to enjoy a meal.

Seems like they have jacked their prices up a lot. The food is great, but my son couldn’t believe how much we spent on what we traditionally eat.

My son and I have made this our spot for hanging out and catching up. The menu is simply mindboggling, and everything we've tried has been delightful.

The food was excellent and the server, attentive. They accommodated all of our requests and went out of their way to answer any questions. Ambience was suitable for the crowd. Will go back

We went for Father’s Day with our 1 year old at 5pm. The place was nearly empty, but if you’ve dined with a little you know that can be ideal. The restaurant was nicely decorated, but not over the top. Felt familiar, and very light/open. The service was outstanding, nice and friendly to us and our kid. The food was incredible - best Chinese we’ve ever had! We wrapped up dinner by 6, and that’s when more people showed up. It was about 1/2 full with more coming, but dining early was perfect for us. The tea/smoothie bar was the perfect was to top off the night! We absolutely will be back!

Normally we enjoy Legendary Spice. However, our most recent visit was very poor. We were given cheap plastic untensils and disposable bamboo chopsticks. The sesame chicken tasted old and came with one piece of cold, wet broccoli.
