Le Yaca began in 1964 in Courchevel, a tiny, country village in the French Alps. Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans, they told the hopeful restaurateurs they were crazy to think people would drive eight kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner. Daniele and Gerard hesitated for three months and then decided, “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “il n’y a qu’a le faire,” which basically means, “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag, but the name caught on with customers who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States and opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg. Daniel Abid bought Le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge," and to top it all off, “Alain Ducass

    We LOVE La Yaca. It was my Davids 65th Birthday. I had steak & lobster,delicious. David had Salmon,he said it was GREAT. FABULOUS bottle of wine too. La Yaca is our special dining experience. Looking forward to dining outside next time. Can we bring our 2 doggies? THANKS HEATHER GAUTHIER

    Gail’s service was very good. Crab cakes were outstanding. Restuarant was very noisy - if we go back, will ask to be seated in a quieter location farther away from the bar. Our bottle of red wine was warm- not the appropriate temperature for a nice red wine. Our crime brûlée was “ok”- I suggest they serve it with a fruit garnish. The apple pastry dessert was very good.

    This was our second visit to Le Yaca. We had the 3-course prix-fixe, which is a great value. The food and service were excellent. The waiter was helpful in the wine selection, offering tastes of two alternative wines, not pushing us to the more expensive ones. The restaurant is quiet, it's easy to have a conversation.

    Lovely, lovely food and ambience. We were seated in a very quiet spot to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. The bar in the next room was hopping and fun for all there but we did enjoy a quiet spot for our celebration. They were also now serving on the terrace and we look forward to summer evenings out there as well. LeYaca - we always LOVE it and recommend the menu and service!!

    Dining here is always an exceptional experience.I had the Fish special and it did not disappoint me.The French Onion soup was the correct temperature & delicious as usual.My dessert was extremely delicious.My service was exceptional.

    Everything was perfect! Our server was very attentive and gave us great recommendations on wine selection and food. We had a wonderful anniversary lunch topped off with a glass of champagne on the house. Also, the hostess and the lady who seated us were very welcoming and gracious. Finally, we drove 85 miles for this experience and it was worth every minute of the drive there and back.

    Fantastic. First class ambiance, decor and staff . The food was the best I have had since dining in a 2 Michelin Star Restaurant in Paris. Must try it!
