   One of the worst French restaurants I've ever been to. I had the calamari and beef bourgignon. The calamari was a few tiny nugget type pieces with a salad with no dressing. For the price, I expected 4 or 5 rings with a dressed salad. The bourgignon was awful. It should have lardons and shallots in the sauce, but they were non existent. The meat was extremely dry and tasteless. I wanted to have cheese afterwards, but I thought, what's the point! I paid 30 something pounds for a good bottle of wine, which was cheap plonk. I will never go back!

   This is now my favourite bistro in the Upper Street area. Excellent range of well prepared and tasty starters. The pan fried duck was excellent and the desserts lovely. Service is friendly and there are enough staff to ensure waits are minimal. Don’t sit by the door on a cold night. Customers too often don’t feel they need to close it as they leave. Annoying!

   I will say first that the staff is very friendly and the facility is perfectly adeque. The menu contains every bistro favorite from France, but just doesn’t seem to do them well. The escargot with “butter” and garlic were clearly of the canned or frozen variety then shoved into decorative shells. The butter and garlic mentioned tasted more like cheap oil with pre-minced garlic and the escargot themselves were flavorless. The fried Camembert was acceptable, but had way too much sweet red sauce ladled overtop. If you order this as an appetizer, ask for the sauce on the side to keep it from tasting more like dessert. For dinner, the salmon filet was, in fact, a salmon steak, and rather a bony one. The burre blanc sauce was decent but didn’t adequately cover the rather unpleasant taste of the fish. The lamb steak was tasteless and served with a brown sauce that was clearly straight out of a bottle. My glass of white wine was not pleasant to drink either. I left most of it in the glass. On the upside, the potatoes with both main dishes were edible. We skipped dessert, waiving the white flag of surrender, we could bear no more.
