   Let me preface this review by saying that we left before we ordered our dinner, so I can't comment on the food. We had a dinner reservation for an early dinner on 6/5 @ 6pm, for 2. This looked like a cute little place from the street. As we walked through the outdoor patio to get to the front door, there was a server/ host chatting and/or taking the order of 2 customers sitting on the patio. He saw us walking in, and didn't even acknowledge us, by a wave or saying I'll be with you in a minute. We waited a few minutes until he came in and then we were seated. We were the only people in the restaurant. The menu selections looked really good, the wine list was small. When the server /host arrived, his shirt had a big spot of brown dirt on the back, and another spot on his sleeve. We ordered a Cab, and were told that the winery had gone out of business a while ago. We then asked about the other cabs, and he went and got 3 bottles that he had sitting out in the other room. We checked out the bottles of wine, and then decided that we would leave and have dinner somewhere else. We came in for a nice dinner and a nice bottle of wine, but were turned off by the wine selection, and the overall attitude of the server/host.

   Good food in what appears to be a family run operation. Service was attentive without being overbearing. The lamb shank was excellent.

   My husband and I reserve Sat 2/24 @6pm as we walked in...NO Hi welcome or anything to feel inviting. The host told us, "I don't see your name" as I was looking from upside down reservation book I found our name...really. We use our groupon meal for two and Im not sure after I told her we are using Groupon our service change discrimination against Groupon not sure but gave us the side eye look. NO smile just not inviting at all. We will not be going there again, terrible host as if she's not happy working at the restaurant. My portion was smaller than my husband as we paid ADDITIONAL $50. Terrible service.

   Food was quite good, but restaurant was understaffed for a Saturday night and service was slow. Value was excellent for Carmel.

   Stumbled on Small restaurant on a very popular and busy weekend. Service was outstanding, Food was very good and priced right. Appeared to be a more local crowd, not very busy but is off the popular path. Would recommend for a reasonable priced tasty meal. Had a guitar player and singer, which added a nice touch for dinner and after dinner cocktail in the front courtyard
