   I had a reservation for Monday January 20th at 6:30pm for 5 people to celebrate my daughters birthday. We drove an hour and half to get to La Carnita to find out that the restaurant wasn't even open. Their google hours say they are open Monday's and there is no mention of their wesbite that they are closed on Monday's. I had the reservation booked a week in advance. If they are closed on Monday's, this is something that should have been noticed by the restaurant. I have reached out to La Carnita TWICE to try and understand what happened, but have had no response from them. If you are planning to go to this restaurant, I highly suggest you call first to make sure they are actually open, even if you have a reservation.

   My fav restaurant in Toronto. Must try the shrimp app, it’s literally my favorite meal I order it for dinner. College street location can be just as loud as the John street but usually quieter and better atmosphere in my opinion. Also the coconut tequila was recommended to me by my server and it is my new favorite tequila and is the cheapest one on the menu!

   The food is excellent. The steak tacos are delicious. Our waitress was never around. Not sure where she went. We ordered white wine sangria and had to send it back. It was awful, tastes like fruit punch. We did love the margaritas.

   Having been to other La Carnita locations, this was consistent, but also more “meh” all at once. Good was great, but also it’s been better. Everything came quickly enough but also we felt rushed. Four of us seated and we were being rushed out in less than 90 min. There were certainly other available tables so it wasn’t really clear why. Also the tres leches cake was one of the worst I’ve ever had. Added icing and other crap that is just needless. Great tacos, drinks are consistently good (although pricey as Toronto tends to be) but it’s very loud and service was occasionally unwelcome. PS, while they make a very good michelada, don’t ask for that because apparently they’ve never heard of it? Need to ask for an “OG Chelada”

    Great vibe, food and service. Love those spicy Margaritas! The beef short ribs and nachos are amazing, as were the tacos.
