   Expected much better food from a Thomas Keller group restaurant. Service good. Taco chips altho freshly made in house were greasy, guacamole too spicy, very small portions. They need to up their game on creating more than just an authentic setting.

   Our entire experience exceeded our expectations on this second visit to Calenda. Our friends visiting from out of town have a senior dog who needs a lot of TLC. She was greeting as we’re the four of us with a warm smile by all staff, and we were made to feel at home on the patio on an amazingly warm Tuesday afternoon. Our waiter, Carlos was very attentive and took care of our every need. It was taco Tuesday so we enjoyed discounted tacos and one person had a $5 draft beer. Two had a margarita which were tasty and I had an iced tea. Water was refilled throughout the meal. Between the four of us we had the house made chips, two kinds of salsa and guacamole - outstanding!! Then we ordered all of the tacos excelling the mushroom filling. Each was perfectly prepared and delicious!! We will definitely return!!

   Honestly, we wanted to love this place but other than the mushroom tacos the most accurate word is underwhelming. The margarita was good and the guac and salsas were fine but really nothing more or less than our regular Mexican joint. When Thomas Keller's name is attached, you definitely expect more than average. We also got a tamale which was just ok and the whole fish which I really couldn't taste because all I could taste was bitter char from the grill. Sorry.

   Set outside as the music was beyond loud. You could hear the hostess ask your name for the reservation nor could she hear you. Outside was nice but the table was dirty with dirty dishes under utensil holder. The food was innovative and authentic--really delicious Latin flavor.

   Im a a huge Tom Keller fan. When I heard about this place I planned my birthday dinner here 1 month in advance and had a party of 12. We spent about $400-$500 on dinner and drinks plus tipped our staff $200. My only main complaint was we felt rushed towards the end. Our waitress kept taking our plates before we were done so some of us didn’t finish our food. Which for the price of the food we should not be feeling rushed especially when we were there for a 6:30 reservation.

   the food was excellent. Tried two different tacos and the daily special fish dish and would order again. Specialty margaritas were good but not great. We will go to La Calenda again in the future.

   Busy Saturday night, however service was average. Food came before drinks were delivered. Somewhat disappointing as I have been there many times prior on busier nights and service was much better. Food is consistently awesome! Great variety for all diners. They had some live music which for me was distracking as the house music is just perfect. It's always challenging to have conversation as it is. Too small of a dining room for music. Overall, if you need a break from tasting wine all day or an authentic Mexican meal, 2 thumbs up!!

    Food was horrible (except for the chips and salsa) and place was so loud you could not have a table conversation. We would never go back to this restaurant.
