   A modern Indian restaurant which we use fairly regularly. It is not a pile-it-high place. Menu is pretty much unchanged in recent years.

   Karnavar never disappoints. Fabulous food, my favorites are definitely the king prawn kebab and black lentil dhal.

   Great food and amazing service by all staff! We had the 5 course tasting menu with incredible wine pairings. Our waiters were knowledgable and a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended!

   This was my second visit to Karnavar in South Croydon and I'm happy to say so much better than first! This time there were other diners which gave the place some atmosphere. The food is great, with some unusual combinations. It's wonderful to get a Biriyani, which tastes as good as if you were in Karnataka.

   Delicious food, an interesting menu; much closer to The Cinnamon Club in style than a standard Indian restaurant. Decent cocktail menu and wine list. It is a relatively small space so was quite loud on a Friday evening. Perhaps go during the week if you like a quieter experience.

   In general the food was excellent, with well balanced spicing on the majority of dishes. The only dish that was disappointing on the tasting menu was the lamb main. While the lamb itself was very nice, the yam accompaniment was poorly judged, both too large for a tasting menu and very stodgy.

   Manoj and his team continue to provide high end Indian/Keralan cuisine. The Sunday buffet lunch is very good quality with numerous interesting and delicious choices and excellent value for food this good. The individually prepared dosas and pancakes are not to be missed!

   Waited to find the right excuse to visit this Michelin listed restaurant so Father's day was the the right time. Opted for the Fathers day brunch, which included starters, dosas live station. After which came the meat selection of salmon pakoras, tulsi seekh kebabs and chicken masala morsels with their dips. Once we tackled them came the main course, I chose the chicken makhani which came with an assortment of sides which at first looked less then adequate but that's was just a mirage as we were stuffed. It was good to see the chef come to check on us several times even explaining the various fusion miracles he produced. It all seemed to good to be true, as usually Indian food is judged by how quickly it can blow your head with the chillies. Here the heat was something that sat in the background to the depth of flavour that needed to be experienced beforehand. Had we found the jewel that lied in croydons Nile? Learning afterwards that the meat was all halal and not authentically prepared meant this was just another restaurant that had succumbed to pressure of a minority religious belief. Why does food have to be messed around with? I am in with diversity and acceptance. But it just seem to be going one way. How many Pakistani, Persian, afghani, turkish, etc restaurants cater for the non-halal contingent? Food for thought that! Shame that this would be our first and last visit to Karnavar.

    The food at the restaurant was very good and I would recommend it. We had the 5 course tasting menu with the wine pairing. When each course was bought out the waitress described each dish as expected and they were all very interesting dishes. However, when the wine was delivered (by a different waitress) no description was given. The best we managed to get was "it's the second wine" and "it's the dessert wine" which was a bit disappointing.
