Visited on a Saturday evening and decided to try one of the BBQ combination meals ($50 option). Portions were very generous and meat was well seasoned. Unfortunately , our server wasn’t very attentive. When bringing out the different meats and side dishes, he provided no explanation as to what was what, nor did he provide suggested cook times. Furthermore, after dropping off our food, he never came back to check on us. Overall, the food was good; however, the service was mediocre.

HORRIBLE. The only benefit is that we were greeted politely by the hostess. Their server came over, rather slow, and took our order. After 50 minutes, we asked the hostess if she would grab our server for us. And we still didn’t see him, we’d grab the busboy and asked him to bring over the manager. The busboy turned to the server who had a look of surprise and ran to the kitchen. At this point we had gathered our belongings and we’re ready to leave. The server been brought miso soup and he said” I can’t help with the kitchen does”. I responded that where as I understood that, the fact is is the server never once checked on us or the food. And miso soup was not made to order. It was a complete lack of responsibility and attentiveness on behalf of the server. He told us I’m sure I could get you a discount if you want to stay. We responded that it wasn’t worth it to us, and we just left. We wound up walking a few blocks to Max’s , where we were greeted promptly, the server came over promptly, and we received our fresh made to order food in less time that we took for the miso soup. Do not waste your time here, this is by far one of the worst experiences I can recall.

What a fabulous place. We ordered a variety of appetizers at happy hour prices and were delighted by the portion size And quality. The Bang Bang Shrimp is to die for. We followed with full dinners And were equally pleased. Great value!

Sushi was very average service was great people were nice. I think I have been spoiled by sushi in NYC. The rice was too sweet. The kitchen started to clean (which is great) but not when you smell bleach when you are eating.

We have been there many times with no complaints. This time however, the service was terrible. We were celebrating my adult son's birthday. I asked the server for a birthday dessert way before we were finished with dinner. We had to look for him several times and find the manager inorder to get the table cleared and get the dessert. My son wanted to leave and didn't know why I kept getting up to find the server as we were surprisng him with the dessert. I would usually recommend this restaurant, but not this time. Not even sure if we will go back there.

We have been going to Kanpai since it opened. We have noticed a significant decline in the food quality. We sat at barbecue table and ordered severed different types of beef and seafood. Beef was very fatty and poor quality, seafood was ok. The place was empty and the service was spotty at best. Very disappointing!!
