   Seated promptly at reservation time. Server was at our table very quickly. Very clean restaurant with appealing decor. Food was prepared as requested and very flavorful. Would recommend restaurant if you’re looking for a moderately priced meal. Once we ordered, our salads arrived quickly and our food order was served soon after we competed our salads.

   My fish was dry since I could not add the sauce due to dietary issues. He offered to have it cooked again but then everyone else’s food was already on the table ready day so I declined. The snapper and broccoli were overpriced - It didn’t come with a second side. I would eat there for lunch and get a salad but due to my gluten sensitivity their menu is very limited for me.

   I expected the food to be much better based on other reviews but the service was top notch

   Overall very good although the pino grigio at the bar was not the best. The first glass I gave back to the barman and tasted some from the bottle and said it was "a little vinegary". The second glass from a new bottle tasted just as bad.

   This was our second time visiting Raleigh's J. Alexander, and it was mostly a good experience. I must rave about our server, Mike. He was extremely helpful with suggestions, attentive to our drinks and excellent with customer service. Both his attitude and demeanor make servers like him an asset to the company. My date's food was cooked as she preferred, but I had an issue with my dish. I ordered the Brasserie Chicken. When it arrived, it had capers on the chicken, and that was not mentioned in the description. I am allergic to capers, so I sent it back. The dish came back extremely quickly, and I didn't have the confidence that they completely remade the dish versus simply taking the capers off and bringing it back. We asked our server if it was completely remade, and he couldn't accurately say. Out of fear I didn't finish my dish. I would recommend anyone visiting the establishment to mention allergies before ordering—but that could have been handled better if the "lemon butter sauce" had mentioned it was a "lemon CAPER butter sauce". We may definitely return, but we will be extremely explicit and cautious about dish ingredients.

    Took friend there for their first time. They really enjoyed and will be going back. Great place to eat and visit with friends.
