   Our daughter gave us a gift certificate to Indigenous for Christmas. We live in Massachusetts, but spend a couple of months in Sarasota. Our daughter researched restaurants and really like the way Indigenous sounded. The place definitely lived up to the hype. We started with a shared cup of mushroom bisque. It was outstanding. The next time we go, I will not be sharing it with my husband. We also ordered the beignets and the mushroom appetizer. They both were very good. My husband ordered the pork shop and I ordered the hamburger My burger was delicious, and so were the roasted potatoes. To be honest, after the appetizers and bisque I was so full and was only able to eat a small amount of my main entrée. My husband loved his pork chop and the hash that came with it. I suggested that the next time we come, we share an entrée, but I honestly think it will be tough to decide which one we want. Our surfer was fantastic, she couldn’t have been nicer and more accommodating. We will definitely return next year.

   This restaurant is a hidden gem! The food is outstanding, the variety of flavors show the talent of the chef.

   This was our second visit to Indigenous. The first time was excellent, and we weren't disappointed on this second visit. The food was amazing !! Everything was outstanding from the appetizers (Trout Pate and Roasted Mushrooms) to the main courses of Cobia and Cheshire Pork Chop. Portion sizes are generous (especially the pork chop !!) and prices for the quality of the food are extremely reasonable. This was a significantly better meal than the previous evening at Ocean Prime - and about half the price. Service was very good. Our only slight problem was that we ate in the small room at the rear of the restaurant, where the air conditioning was a bit too efficient. The rest of the experience more than made up for that, however. We will definitely be back. Indigenous really is one of the top restaurants in Sarasota and well deserves its reputation.

   Wait staff was both delightful and professional. The Chef expertly melded the ingredients so each bite provided another flavor profile. A lovely evening.

   This was our first visit to Indigenous. At first we wanted to be inside but could only get outside on the patio. As it turns out we were very happy outside as it was quieter inside when we checked it out was noisier as it’s a small space. It was interesting to watch the food preparation going on in the open kitchen. The night we were there was was over an hour wait for our dinners. They very nicely gave us some complimentary pear beignets which helped. I had a Hawaiian fish I’d never heard of but was very good, a friend had the pork chop which was tremendous, my husband had a hard time finding anything to his liking as they couldn’t make adjustments to how some things were described so he settled on a hamburger which he liked. The restaurant very nicely presented a little coconut ice cream treat to celebrate a birthday. It was a lovely evening. The food was good and we left very full.

   Best meal of our holiday in Florida. The food was delicious and our children welcomed. Truly the place to visit if in Sarasota.

    Disappointing meal. Expected a fine dining experience but received just average food and below average service. Cobia fish was overcooked, vegetables cold. Wait staff were friendly, but lacked any knowledge of providing service in a find dining restaurant. The overall food and service were more consistent with a chain restaurant serving uninspired average food. Not a good choice if you want a great dining experience.
