Located on Charleston's Upper King Street, Indaco (Italian for "indigo") serves rustic Italian cuisine. Wood-fired pizzas, hand-crafted pastas, housemade salami and cured sausages fill the restaurant's menu which can be enjoyed family-style or a la carte. With community tables, an open kitchen, and a comfortable atmosphere, Indaco can accommodate 100 guests for a casual night of food and drinks. The wine list is focused on affordable Italian varietals, the Negroni cocktail is on tap, and the fresh sodas are made in-house. The massive wooden doors on Upper King Street are your first indication that Indaco is different from the typical Charleston restaurant. Rustic details continue inside with butcherblock tables, lime-wash walls, and white brick. An open kitchen with nearby community tables lets interested diners keep an eye on the action inside the kitchen. Outside, a patio puts you streetside to watch Upper King Street's vibrant nightlife scene.

From the OpenTable editors: Within the prolific Indigo Road Hospitality Group, Indaco is the rustic Italian institution. Restaurateur Steve Palmer, a James Beard semifinalist, opened the original in Charleston in 2013, and it’s grown to four locations across the South. The secret to success? Woodfired margherita pizza, fresh tagliatelle with an egg yolk nestled on top, and house negronis on tap, all served in a rugged space with butcher block tables and white washed brick.

    The host Tyler and our server Fawn made our dinner a special night and very enjoyable. The pizza and orecchiette pasta were also outstanding.

    The food, service and ambience were all exceptional. We started with the calamari which was delicious. We then split a pizza margherita and the mushroom pasta. Everything was outstanding. We will definitely be back.

    Our table was located on the left side wall and was very cold... the people at the adjacent table complained also but we were told there was nothing that could be done. We had a great waiter and great service. It was our first time and we did the Chef's special...excellent food, but we ate quickly because we were cold. The AC units above us were turned off but the waiter said the air came from the vents in the big round ducts overhead. We were disappointed that the night ended so quickly

    I love this restaurant. Last night it was a miss with my steak, but our server did everything to correct the situation. They ensured we walked away satisfied from the dinner even sending us with a free dessert and adjusted bill. I will always come here when I am in town.

    We come to Indaco rather frequently, and each time we are met with amazing service from the staff and wonderful food. It’s one of our favorite spots and I would reccomend Indaco to anyone visiting Charleston

    Dinner at Indaco tonight was incredible! Jonathan, Chase, and I went with the Chef’s Choice ($60 per person) and were blown away — every dish was full of flavor and perfectly paced. But the real star of the night was our server, Kat. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, and her kindness truly made the experience special. Indaco absolutely delivered. We’ll definitely be back!
