   We visited Il Gattopardo on Mother’s Day afternoon, thanks to a recommendation from my lifelong friend David — and what a gift it turned out to be. Tucked away in Mayfair, this stylish Italian spot offered far more than just a meal — it gave us a lasting memory. The décor is sleek and elegant, with leopards subtly featured throughout — a playful nod to the 1963 Italian film Il Gattopardo (The Leopard), as our lovely waiter explained. There was a special Mother’s Day menu, which was not only delicious but refreshingly cost-effective compared to the à la carte. Starters like arancini, pizzette, and salad were generous and beautifully done. My wife’s sea bass was perfect, and my sliced sirloin was full of flavour. Our daughters were happily accommodated with spaghetti and butter — simple and spot on. But what truly set the afternoon apart was the warmth of the team. The chef’s wife and daughter were seated nearby, and in a moment of pure magic, their daughter came to play with ours. The chef stepped out to check on them, the manager joined in with genuine affection, and even our professional waiter got involved, saying as we left, “I wanted them to feel at home.” And we truly did. What began as a stylish lunch became something far more intimate and memorable — like an impromptu family gathering somewhere sunny in Italy. Thank you to the entire team for making our Mother’s Day so special — and to David for the perfect recommendation. Five stars — we’ll absolutely be back.

   Our evening at Gattopardo was underwhelming and the food was terrible. Very expensive. The staff are obliging but poorly trained.

   The food was good and the place was hopping. A fun time. Wines by the glass good but overpriced for the pour. Overall good, just order a bottle.

    Terrible. We were rushed to leave the restaurant. I woudn’t come back to this place. There are way better italian restaurants in London.
