Hugo's Frog Bar & Fish House opened its doors in February 1997 in the heart of Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood, next to sister restaurant Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse. Over Enjoy the city's finest seafood restaurant, Hugo's continues to be the destination for premier east and west coast oysters, crudos, frog legs, lobster and seasonal fish and shellfish, in addition to Gibsons Prime Angus and Gibsons Grassfed Australian steaks. An extensive wine list, classic cocktail list and selection of impressive signature desserts accompany the menu of fresh seafood, steaks and chops.     Superb service marked this chicago staple yet again. Knowledgeable and efficient staff with a firm grasp on the menu was able to hustle up an Afogato for us for desert to pair with the crème brûlée. From soft, fresh bread with high quality soft butter to the wedge salad with generous helpings of blue cheese to crabs Mac and cheese and perfectly charred brussel sprouts everything was on point. The strip steaks off the Gibson menu were exactly medium rare and nicely crusted. But alas our fish dishes were not the stars. My snapper was overly salted, the halibut lacked flavor (my poached halibut at home much better, sadly) and the brown butter sauce on yet another entree surprisingly bland. Net, the sauce game was weak last night. Maybe just an off night in the kitchen. Other outings have been 5 star.

    Three of us dined and had to change reservation Time twice due to schedule change Two had sea bass which was excellent and I had walleye which was bland and they asked to replace it with branzino but I declined and they comped the entree- Portions are generous and the avocado crab is outstanding it tasted so good!!! We ordered a side of Brussels sprouts which were very tasty too and well prepared!! Our waiter was great and described the menu to a tee!! The restaurant was very busy but everyone was enjoying their meal and the manager stopped by also This is a restaurant that I always try to come to when in Chicago and will continue

    Love love love Denice. She took care of me and my birthday guest perfectly. Such a light hearted and fun evening. Thank you Denice and chef and a very attentive bus boy….,our water glasses were never empty

    Great server! She was kind! Raw oysters and Rockefeller were yummy. So glad to try the wine beforehand. The Sauv Blanc Sancerre was light and perfect with our food. The snapper was heavenly! And the tawny port with the creme' brulee was tasty! I will be back. I came tonight for my 34th birthday!
