I was attending a show at the House of Blues and decided to grab a bite. There was an awesome band playing live and the shrimp poboy was delicious! I really enjoyed myself!

The host stand folks are soooo discourteous and just generally lack customer service acumen which is a shame because our server was great, the food better than average, and the atmosphere with the jazz was great and fun. To put more color on the host folks (esp the guy with the dark hair with streaked blonde hughlifhts) and add more context: we are locals, we had never been the house of blues given its tourist trap like vibe and we were just out walking and decided “why not try”. We went into the bar and had a drink and decided “you know what this is kinda fun” so we decided to stay for dinner. It was about 9pm. We asked the host for a table (many were empty) and he said he was fully booked. We thought that was odd so we went to open table and lo and behold they had many open reservations so we took the 915. Then we went back to the host stand (annoyed) and asked for one of the center tables in front of the band which was open. They said it was “reserved” and sat us in the back. Through the next hour and a half while we ate not only that table remained open but many others also in the front. The thing that turned it around was our server was great and the food was better than expected and the band was a lot of fun. We prob won’t go back tbh next time we are in the mood for jazz we will prob go to Kingston mines to avoid being hassled.

The staff at the House of Blues Restaurant were phenomenal. We were about 10 minutes late to our reservation and they still got us seated right away, no problem. The food was delicious and full of good flavor and heat. We also had a $10 off coupon that was honored without issue. To top off great service, the venue itself is so unique and offers such a fun vibe. Whenever we’re in Chicago we will prioritize attending the House of Blues :).

When we first arrived, we loved it! The vibes were great, and they were able to seat us a half hour ahead of our reservation. We ordered drinks, and got those pretty quickly, but after we ordered our food it took over 45 minutes to get our orders, and the restaurant wasn’t busy, hence us being able to be sat so early. The waitress wasn’t very attentive during the time period we were waiting, and I had to ask for an update on when we might get our food instead of her letting us know if there was an issue, or how much longer it might be. Shortly after getting our food, we asked for boxes, and soup cups for our gumbo. We were told that they don’t have any cups for soup, which I found so odd. Then we asked for checks, and it took another 10 or 15 minutes to get them and two of them had mixed up items, so we asked that to be fixed, and we gave our cards. It was maybe another 10 minutes for our cards to be all charged, and then after 2 hours we were finally able to leave. After we received our food, I’m not sure what happened, but the waitress seemed very disconnected, and didn’t seem as though she cared at all to make our experience a nice one. The food was great, and the music was good. The first act was perfect, and then the second act was far too loud. We had to yell to our waitress. Besides myself, it was my family’s first time eating in Chicago, and it was pretty disappointing. We’ve eaten at House of Blues in Orlando, and it was great, so this was a let down for sure.
