   Lovely lunch in pleasant surroundings. Delicious flavours and modern presentation. Friendly and efficient service without being overbearing. Definitely worth a visit …. And then another …..and then another!!

   A really fantastic meal here to celebrate a birthday. Food was outstanding, very nice menu and all cooked perfectly. The service was excellent, a very friendly welcome and the restaurant had a lovely ambiance. Would definitely recommend.

   Really enjoyed our dinner here on Wednesday evening. We ate from the early diner set menu and it was such great value. The food was really tasty. It was a relaxed ambiance also

   We ate at Hispi today to celebrate a birthday, as we couldn't think of a better place for a special occasion. We were warmly welcomed by Beth, who served us throughout the meal and couldn't have been more helpful. Choosing from the varied and imaginative menu isn't always easy, but then again we've never gone wrong - whatever we have is always spot on. The food is freshly and expertly cooked using quality ingredients, and beautifully presented. We eat at Hispi quite regularly and find the standard consistently outstanding, so never eat anywhere else now!

   We had an excellent meal at Hispi today. The food (from the Sunday menu) was delicious with good sized portions. Desserts were very good too; we enjoyed the parkin and butterscotch sauce, the honeycomb ice-cream and the set vanilla custard with forced rhubarb and rose granita. Service, as always at Hispi, was great. We don't visit often but when we do, we love it.

   Excellent bistro with delicious Sunday lunch. We particularly loved the roast beef, wine and desserts as well as the extremely friendly and attentive staff.

   Food was incredible and paired wines worked brilliantly. Service was amazing and staff showed passion and enthusiasm for the dishes and contributed to the experience. Had a wonderful time.

   Hispi's Tasting Menu nights are just fantastic, and our experience on 4 April was faultless in every respect. The beef tartare appetiser was light and tasty, with its smooth texture contrasting nicely with the crisp little poppadom on which it was served. Then on to the delicious potato gnocchi starter, with cow's curd, courgette and basil in a rich, creamy pistachio sauce combining perfectly with the recommended wine pairing (a deliciously crisp Gavi). The vermouth dressing on the gin-cured sea trout added a refreshing touch of sharpness, offset by the subtle sweetness of citrus and apple. For the main, we had perfectly-cooked roast rack of lamb with melt-in-the-mouth potato fondant, rainbow chard and a rich red wine sauce. We opted for the paired wine (La Cote Sauvage Cairanne from the Rhone Valley) which was smooth, full flavoured and complemented the lamb perfectly. The dark chocolate delice with creme fraiche and strawberries was just gorgeous, and not overly sweet (the quality of the ingredients at Hispi shines through!) and the whole meal was topped off with a little strawberry and lime pate de fruit. Front-house staff at Hispi are terrific - they know exactly how long to allow between courses, and we appreciated (and accepted) the offer of a little break before dessert. Exactly the right level and amount of information was given about the dishes and wines on serving. So to sum up: the food is imaginative, perfectly cooked and presented, and expertly served in a warm and welcoming environment. What more could anyone want?

    Fantastic Mother's Day roast . Loved it. Polite feedback though, was that for mains 2 x beef dishes and 2 x fish dishes 1 x veggie .. but no roast chicken , pork or lamb options , which was limiting for 1 of guest on our table. Otherwise the beef was perfectly cooked and the crab cake starter amazing.
