   This is our second visit to Helen's and it did not disappoint. The food and service were spot on. We love the petit plate options which in our experience have all been delicious. The service is friendly and efficient. The vibe is that of a great neighborhood bar. It's a definite favorite worthy of many repeat visits.

   What a delightful surprise! Our first visit and every single dish was 5 star: shrimp and grits was smoky and deep flavored, short ribs were melt-in-your-mouth tender; my husband couldn’t stop raving about the mussels and ordered extra bread to soak up every drop of broth. Even the side dishes were fantastic: roasted carrots on whipped feta and roasted Brussels sprouts with artichoke hearts. Cocktails excellent. Be sure to make a reservation- they are popular for very good reason.

   We love dining here! One of our favorite spots because the food and service are consistently great! Ambiance is always warm and upbeat. Servers are personable and attentive. Special shout out to Holland who we always look forward to chatting with!

   Went out with my daughter who is at VCU. Great place to go. Food was excellent, service friendly, and noise low enough to easily converse.

   I love Helen’s but the old booths are not comfortable! L shape with no cushion. I would request another table if you can!

    I ordered the rockfish n my fiancé got the mushroom cavatelli. The rockfish was 33$ which isn’t very out of the ordinary for a nice restaurant. Because of the price point i expected the same quality i’d get from other restaurants in the same “class”. The food tasted decent but not 33$ worth. The lentils on their own were good but just kinda tasted like stewed lentils with some aromatics and liquid smoke added. The mustard sauce was alright on its own. The rockfish was cooked well but was a smaller portion than i’d expect. All of the flavors within the individual components of the dish were decent/good but the flavors did not meld with each other or interact with one another. Also the plating seemed rushed and uninspired. With that being said, our server was really cool & my fiancé’s food was really good. The cocktails were pretty good n the beer was nice n cold.
