   We chose Havana 59 as the restaurant to help celebrate my mother’s 90th birthday. It was easy from reservation to finish. The host was welcoming. The server was attentive and fun. The food and mojitos were delicious. It was a beautiful night and we were lucky to sit at one of the front inside tables beside the open garage doors. Mom was excited to share her surprise slice of tres leches cake with us. When we left, we were standing outside and the hostess came out flagged us down to see if we wanted a group picture. This was something unexpected and appreciated since we had meant to take a picture but had forgotten. Thank you to all at Havana 59. Will we be back? Yes! Will we tell others to check it out?    My wife and I greatly enjoyed our meal and the ambiance of the restaurant. We sat by the wide open front windows in 90 degree heat with a breeze and it was perfect. Great to spend a dinner without freezing air conditioning. We shared the sea bass and the veggie paella. Only slight disappointment was too few veggies in the paella. The mojitos were also very tasty. We’ll be back.

   Overall the experience is fantastic, the food and ambience are second to none. Our waitress was wonderful, my ONLY complaint is they include a 20% gratuity on the bill, which I don’t have an issue with, but they don’t tell you that when they bring the check. A friend caught it last night, but last time I was there I included a full tip because I wasn’t aware that they add it on. I guess that’s at least partially my fault, I’m just not someone who scrutinizes the check. It would be nice to be made aware. Otherwise 5-star experience.

   It has been years since first going to Havana 59. Absolutely love the authenticity of the food and atmosphere. Small criticism of the black bean soup would be to have included whole black beans with the purée; the consistency was too similar to baby food, too smooth. The addition of whole beans would only make the soup better, taking it to near perfection!

   The food is not authentic, is more like asian fusion with cuban.

   Great overall dining experience! The Cuban egg rolls were good, the empanadas were very good, and the paella for two was outstanding. There was a large party our waitress was also working which took most of her attention, we we'd rate the service as very good, but not excellent -- we could have used a few more check ins, water refills, etc. We're tough with our reviews --overall a good experience and we'll return with friends to try more of the menu.
