   A fun old town environment. The sushi options seemed a little overpriced. Green tea ice cream always a favorite! The service was good. The table we had reserved wasn't ready so they upgraded our table to the VIP table. It was a fantastic setting, and a fun experience.

   I thought Harney would be a good spot for some great sushi and good ambiance. Was I wrong to a certain degree. I made my reservation well in advance and at an early time for Valentine's Day knowing it would be busy and really didn't want to have to wait. I made sure I made my way to the restaurant with plenty of time prior (arrived at 5:55 for a 6:15 reservation) to insure I would get a good table. The restaurant at the time was busy, but no where close to full. I checked in and was seated immediately at a postage stamp size table at the BAR. I was close to the door, asked it be closed, they closed it and propped it open three times! I overheard the hostess say she was too hot. Her discomfort was more important than a guests.

   Loved it! The sushi was fresh and tasty. Sake was smooth. We will be back.

   Harney is some of the best sushi in San Diego. Definite must haves are the garlic edamame, flaming lip roll and hope roll. Not a quiet inside dining with a DJ but still fun.

   Out of uni on a friday night?. Too noisy, so that we were unable to hear each other and hence the meal was not enjoyable. Also I asked for items in a certain order, which did not happen. Finally the abalone arrived so late, that I thought the waitress had forgotten about it. The recommendation on cold sake was a great one ? The rice arrived before any food, was cold. Should have come with the sushimi.

   AWESOME food...ALWAYS! It's the service that's often shaky. Even w/reservations, had 2 wait 20mins past our res. 2b seated. W/reservations for LATE nite HappyHour, didn't leave much time to sit, talk, enjoy our drinks, &meal w/out feeling RUSHED &in the WAY of staff that were ready to close &leave...esp. since our waitress left the bill &came back & pushed it towards the center of our table TWICE in 10mins AND was still providing "service" to our table w/her purse on her shoulder! How UNPROFESSIONAL can u be?! Anytime I go after 9p, the waitresses are just NOT up to par. Often drink orders are forgotten to be put in or they just act like they're in such a RUSH to get to their other tables! But the FOOD keeps me coming back! What can I say?!

    outstanding customer service on the whole, (the sushi chefs are great, especially). Pricey, but very good. Never had a bad roll there. They cut the rolls into slimmer pieces so they fit more easily into your mouth and they are always wrapped real tightly. Quality and the freshest of ingredients.
