   Fresh local produce, friendly and helpful owners. The summer ploughman's is definitely worth a try if calories aren't an issue

   What a find! Booked last minute for Easter lunch - and we were in for a treat. The Easter roast lunch was outstanding - huge portions, divine meats and veggies. We were thrilled! Adam, the barman, was friendly and engaging, and clearly enjoys being there. Everyone looked like they were happy, relaxed and enjoying their meals. Highly recommended!

   Lovely place, lovely spot and lovely people. The food and the beer was great too. I think if you booked a table at a quiet time it would be just about perfect. We booked for 1am (admittedly there were a lot of us which couldn't have helped) and didn't get served until nearly 3pm. The food was great, tasty, hot and all came at the same time. The only gripe being it took so long (in retrospect, some bread or a freebie glass of wine would have made the wait more bearable). We skipped puddings rather than wait again, which was a shame because they looked great too. From what we could tell it wasn't lack of staff or unusual circumstances, just that the place filled up in a short space of time and that's what happens. I would go again, but never at a busy time.

   Food was very good, but was REALLY impressed with the service received. We were made to feel welcome by all the staff, and we really appreciated Tania (owner) introducing herself during the evening and then chatting for ages at the end of the meal. We felt like we were 'guests' rather than 'customers'. We will definitely be going back!!!

   We thoroughly enjoyed a special birthday lunch on Christmas Eve. Tanya and the staff at the Halfway House could not have been more hospitable and welcoming. The menu contained a very creative range of options, the only problem being that there were at least four close contenders for each course. When the food arrived it was well cooked and well presented. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable eating experience and excellent value.
